We bought a new GE refrigerator a year or so ago. After watching some YouTube videos about refrigerators, I felt comfortable with the brand and style we bought. It's spacious, but not fancy.

Ours didn't have a built-in icemaker; it was an optional add-on. We opted out. In the past, the icemaker in our refrigerators always resulted in service calls and replacements, no matter the brand! We decided to use old fashioned ice trays, and I'm happy with that decision.

We just got a new Samsung in the fall.  We are happy so far.  Lowe's delivered in one day.  The workers were kind and professional.  We made sure it would fit in the space but then didn't fit through the front door!  They removed the doors.  All good.  They were here maybe 30 minutes. We were happy with the delivery.

I live in a large Ohio city, but we have very few independent appliance stores. The few we have left are no longer family owned and serve only their immediate area. Also, they use third party installers so their delivery and installation is no better than the big box stores. I need fridge, range and microwave but have delayed purchasing due to installation nightmares I've heard about. I don't want my wood floors and freshly painted walls destroyed. Wondering if Best Buy or Costco would have better installers than HomeDepot/Lowes. I'm buying GE.

@CJC :  We used Costco and their "white glove" installation.  They take away all packaging, set up appliance and take the old appliance away.  I love their installation services.  DS used Best Buy and was charged a "haul away" charge for their appliances ($75 I believe for each one).
