Why did Chris leave?

Did they dump him?

Thanks for the link. I agree that they made a great choice for replacing Kimball.

I don't know. I haven't been watching the show for very long and don't know all the history.  All I can say is that he never gave me the warm-fuzzies. He seemed cranky and disagreeable and I never understood what his role was.  I think the show will be fine, if not better with the new hosts.

@hopi they couldn't come to an agreement when negotiating his new contract.

I think the new hosts are an outstanding idea and I wish them and the show well!

@momtochloe

I enjoyed Chris as someone for everyone to play off of during their segments.  I hate to see him go.

It's a great educational show.

I was surprised to see the taste tester guy, Jack Bishop, is the Creative Director. He was promoted to that title last fall, after the new CEO arrived on the scene in September. I read an article somewhere that said Chris Kimball did not get along with the new CEO David Nussbaum. Chris was actually the founder of America’s Test Kitchen & Cook’s Country and they grew to such proportion that the parent company, Boston Common Press LP, created the new position of CEO and hired Nussbaum to take charge in September. Kimball & Nussbaum purportedly did not see eye-to-eye on the future of the shows & magazines and the CEO held higher rank than the founder. So…Kimball decided to leave and is apparently working on starting a new venture. I wondered if he would woo away those two specific ladies to join him in his new business/show. They seemed to be able to handle him and yet not appear as intimidated as some of the other cooks do. By designating them as co-hosts that keeps them in place and stabilizes ATK going forward. They really were the most informative and both have a great on-camera style. I have always enjoyed both shows, but agree Chris often seem cranky and at times, off-putting. I wish them all well and would watch shows from both camps.

This is my favorite cooking show. Although I may not cook a lot, I do enjoy the explanations of why things work or better, don't work. Despite some networks that think Giada's cleavage talks.

I never minded Chris and wish him well. Love the new hosts.

I don't know, I'll kind of miss cranky old Chris. I liked the way they all played off each other, and he seemed very knowledgeable .

I hope the powers-that-be know what they're doing. Chris was the heart of those shows. There's nothing wrong with either Bridget or Julia. But they're not Chris. He was very knowledgeable and the format was working. Evidently when the "new people" took over, they figured they could do without him. Something happened, even though it was agreed upon by both to have Chris leave.

I will check the new season out and see what's going on. But I doubt I'll be hanging around very long. And I may cancel my subscriptions to both CI and CC.

And I'm really hoping that Chris is already working on a new cooking show.
