New Temptation Items

[ Edited ]

In an email I received today from Temptations, there was an item that I don't remember seeing before.  It is a set called 'Dish it Out'.  It's two 24 oz bowls with handles on each side and a lid-it.   It looks very nice, but what I noticed was a new color (new to me).  It was a very pretty shade of grey:

Yes, the grey is new as of the past few months; Tara has said that there will be much more coming in this color next year. I saw that item as well and thought it was a great concept, but you can tell even in the promotional image that the paint work is really sloppy as usual. Very disappointing...

These do look cute but such an odd size. I'm sure they will market it as a soup bowl or  individual crock, and of course with the obligatory "garlic knot" on top. But it is 24oz which is 3 cups OR 3/4 of a quart, a bit big for an individual serving size IMO. I already have enough of these in between containers. I don't purchase TempTations after getting sloppy painted, unglazed or chipped pieces several years ago. Just not worth the return hassle. A nice addition to the Temptations devotees.

I didn't and still do not see any 'sloppy' paint work.  They look good to me.  So I don't know what you are referring to.

@suzykee - This size is great for a two-cup serving of soup or chili because it gives you room to get the soup into the bowl and then scoop it out without making a mess. I have both Corelle bowls and Sistema microwave bowls in this size and use them all the time.

@KatieB - In the photo you posted, there is uneven/wobbly painting around the rims of both the top and bottom pieces, and the leaves are not evenly applied. If you go to the Temp-tations website and view the other colors, the issues are even more apparent.

I'm confused by what you are talking about, as you know these items are painted by hand. I don't see any of the things you are referring to, you could have just commented and the ugly remark could have been left out.  Perfect people always look for flaws in others when they should look at themselves. I understand your point but I was amazed at your comment.

@ladyann45 - I actually collect handpainted stoneware from a number of brands, and my older Temp-tations pieces are some of my favorites because the quality used to be very high. I rarely order TT items now because I've had to send back so many due to problems with painting as well as the quality of the stoneware itself. It's one thing to have a unique, handpainted item, but it's quite another to have pieces that are supposed to be professionally crafted but don't reflect that level of artisanship. It seems likely that the problems that have crept in over the years are due to quality control and/or the speed of manufacturing, but whatever the cause, the lack of consistency and quality has driven away many customers, as other posts throughout the forums confirm.

@loriqvc   I do see the grey paint on the rim of the front bowl.  And I do see the leaves..  The OW leaves are painted like they have always been painted.  I've never seen a leaf painted in one solid stroke of paint.  None of that would make me not order the item if I wanted it.  I do have a couple of pieces.

I noticed some new pieces/sets recently added for the holidays, but at the Temptations website! No free shipping. No easy pay. Nada!  I'd prefer to see new things at QVC.
