Solofill will be releasing in 10 days a new redesigned version of their first unit they produced about 14 months ago. I was a beta tester for it alongside of the Ekobrew and the older Solofill and indeed the new model in my opinion is a step up. One thing is that because of the improved design, decaflow vs octaflow, there is a better saturation of the coffee grinds and by still keeping the nipplelike bulge, the overall brew of the coffee is improved further.
In addition, the new Solofill now has a silicone seal vs rubber and there are markings across from the hinge so it is easier for those of us with less than stellar eyesight to open.
In order to easily fill the Solofill since it is not flat bottomed, I cut out the bottom of a 5 ounce Dixie cup and it makes a dandy stand.
To empty the grinds out after the brew is complete, I simply rap the flat top against the counter a couple of times and open the brewer and discard (or use for compost) the grinds and in this way even the bottom bulge is emptied.
These new Solofills although not as large capacity as the Ekobrew when filled with my existing K Cup coffees, produces an even better tasting result than my Ekobrew. Whatever you decide however both of these are far far superior to the colored water maker (My K Cup).
