I love my faithful KA hand mixer and the new KA Mini sounds like it would be just the ticket for me.

This mixer may be nice, but It is only has a 250W motor. You could buy an Artsian Series mixer with a 5QT bowl and 325W motor. It also comes in many colors. Please find a comparison chart online.

In all my 55 years of cooking, I've used only hand mixers (fortunately, I have hands) and they have served any purpose for a mixer. I have always seemed to have a food processor (Cuisinart) or a good blender for other stuff.
While I'm not a fan of KA, since they changed manufacturers, I think the idea of a mini version of their stand mixer just sounds so cute! I'll have to look. I remember hearing about this a while back but never looked, as I'm not in the market. My Cuisinart hand mixer has served me well for the last 20 years. ![]()

@Sooner wrote:I think the new one is interesting and will be useful for a lot of people with limited space and small mixer needs. It has the same horsepower as the Artisan and says made in USA. A hand mixer just will never mix doughs the way a stand mixer will--a good stand mixer.
I look forward to seeing these. Sounds like a "summer mixer" to me--cakes, cookies, whipped cream for berries and such. . .
The comparison list I saw on Amazon says the mini is 250 watts, the Artisan is 325.

As far as hand mixers, I've had my KA hand mixer for close to 20 years. Admittedly I don't use it a ton as I have stand mixers also. I do use it for pate a choux though, because you can beat it in the pot on the stove. I don't use it for bread or stiff cookie dough. It's fine for lighter cakes, batters and whipped cream.

Wow, this would be a very interesting mixer for a smaller family. I just checked BB&B and the Kitchenaid Team lists the wattage at 325 running on 120 volts.
What I really like is that you can use whatever Kitchenaid accessories you have with this smaller version (except for the ice cream maker and the heated bowl attachment).
Very interesting, I'll have to go scope it out next time I am around a BB&B.

I am so excited you got one! I can't wait to see how you like it!
I am so terrible. I want one. I HAVE an Artisan that is my "summer" mixer and the 6qt. that is my cool weather bread/cookies/big batches mixer and I change them out usually seasonally. I keep one in the furnace closet and one on the counter! LOL!!! (I store a few huge All Clad lids and the mixer in by the furnace. Well, it can't burn up, doesn't cut off the air to the furnace. . . why not?)
Why? I don't know. I just want one. A white one. . . . LOL!!! Sigh!

Sooner - I think you should just build another room in your house. That will fix everything! ![]()
