SORRY for the first 10 Year Old Mixer original title--I don't know how that happened-- ANWAY:
I just got an e-mail from a cooking type retailer about the new KitchenAid mini mixer. It is like a big one, but smaller--I think the bowl is 3.5 quarts. Have you seen one in the stores? I'm just curious. I forgot to look to see where it is made!
Anyway, it's interesting and comes in a lot of colors--of course!!!

I did a search and saw BB&B has them for $329. Can't post a link or it will get zapped. Wonder if Q will sell them?
The ad says, "Made in USA".

What does the new KA mini mixer have to do with a "10 year old KA mixer" which is the title of the thread? I'm not seeing the connection.
Anyway, would I buy the new mini mixer? Nope. It costs more than I paid for my current KA mixer and it's smaller, with a smaller motor.

My, don't be so picky. Op's post is still interesting to me. I would like a smaller one with a smaller footprint. The regular size is too big and heavy for me.
...and the reviews are great. I think I am going to get this one and store the one I had for over 30 years in the basement for special occasions.

Have owned my KitchenAid mixer for more than 10 years and it's still working fine. It was not the most expensive model, but I did purchase another bowl and the smaller bowl for it. Would not purchase a 'mini-mixer' as you never know when you will need a larger capacity one. If you want a smaller one, save some money and buy a KitchenAid hand mixer. It works just fine for the smaller mixing jobs that you may have.

I have NO idea how that got in the title. I just changed it. Something along the way put it there, so I don't know. NO, it doesn't make any sense to me! SORRY! I wish I knew how it happened.

LOL I figured it had to be a mistake. It was just an odd combo of title and post.

Yes, a hand mixer is a good alternative. The only downside is that you need a hand, while a stand mixer leaves your hands free to do other things.

I've never had a hand mixer I didn't burn up, or the "burn" smell got so bad I couldn't stand it. None were Kitchen Aid. But I now own two Kitchen Aid stand mixers, both purchased at local estate auctions. One is brand new. I paid 110.00 and 120.00 respectively. Kitchen Aid has such a good name I didn't hesitate to buy them. One is 9 years in this house and still going strong.

I think the new one is interesting and will be useful for a lot of people with limited space and small mixer needs. It has the same horsepower as the Artisan and says made in USA. A hand mixer just will never mix doughs the way a stand mixer will--a good stand mixer.
I look forward to seeing these. Sounds like a "summer mixer" to me--cakes, cookies, whipped cream for berries and such. . .
