It looks a lot like sapphire; that comparison pic is not accurate. I think it's pretty but I already have so much sapphire, turquoise, & peacock don't need any.

I don't think food looks great on blue so I avoid solid blue plates. ( And my preference is solid colors.) My china however, is white with a cobalt blue flower around the edge of the plate. Not something I would have chosen today, but eons ago that's what you did; you chose a china pattern that would sit in a cabinet and be used on holidays and special occasions. Thank goodness today's brides have gotten smarter and said the heck with that.
