LOL!!!  I can take Rick any time over David.   I used to really like David but not he seems so studied with this persona he has developed on air.

You nailed it. Rick is whatever they want him to be. David has his persona or we would not have the happy dances and "watch me eat" expressions. This is how they train the hosts now and how they turned David into a niche host after Bob Bowersox left. I remember he was talking about QVC sending him to cooking school after Bob left and he took over on Sundays and has been there ever since.

I like Mary Beth as a cooking show host. She hosted a lot of them 15-20 years ago and even put out a few cookbooks. I still have her first cookbook, but when I tried to get the second one it was no longer available and they never brought it back. I don't dislike Rick, but he seems to be QVC's Mr. Everything and sometimes shows way more enthusiasm than necessary.

I've been around a while.  I do remember enjoying Mary Beth on a cooking show from time to time.  I do have both her cookbooks, and they are excellent. Try eBay and Amazon. You might find the books there.  My books are packed up for a painting job inside right now, so I can't give you the name of the book (or books).

Looking forward to some new blood (not literally) in the cooking department this weekend.  Hope it's going to be good.

Mary Beth's shows had more of home cooking feel to them compared to what any of the current cooking shows do. I hope they allow her to bring that back. I had looked up her second book a few other times and never found it at a price I wanted to pay. However, I just ordered "More Family Favorites" for under $10 including shipping. I remember her talking about and like the fact that when she was working on both books she said she wanted them to be spiral bound because it made them easier to use.  I don't use some cookbooks for that very reason.

Re: New Cooking Show w/ Mary Beth & Rick

Glad to see some of the 'older' hosts getting together in a show. It seems to me, that back in the day, the hosts interacted and would co host more than we see today.

I like interaction between them, not just tag teaming it and alternating presentations.

Love both Rick and Mary Beth, so I'll be sure to be watching!

Rick is so hyper that my nerves are so shot after watching, I feel like I just drank a pot of espresso coffee! He reminds me of a used car salesman and I don't believe in his sales pitch.  I do like Mary Beth's approach.

I wish it was just Mary Beth cooking.  Oh well.

I agree. We'll just have to listen to "here's the thing" 100 times.

I forgive her , though. Kind of like listening to a kid say "Like" 15 times in a sentence. LOL

Rick is so hyper.  I remember him with Tara selling Temptations and he is a nervous wreck and made me nervous watching him.  Rick is better at selling things like Serta, which needs a hyper boost to counteract the boring presentations that are mattresses in general.

@house_cat  I'm with you on that.  Rick gets on my last piece of a nerve I have left...
