After years and years of making my own bread, and I have Arthritis in both knees, the standing to knead is harder now, so I was looking at kneading machines, or mixing machines they are called. Well, they are expensive, and my husband saw this bread maker on Amazon that was half off, has 5 stars, many good reviews, and cheaper than the mixer, makes a 2 loaf recipe, so he ordered it. It's stainless steel and will come tomorrow.  I don't know the brand name yet, but it's an unusual one, I think.  I am anxious to try it. I've had some breadmakers in the past, but at that time I wanted to make bread myself, time has changed me.  I will be 85 in April.  But I don't feel that old, young at heart!!  I survived my partial hip replacement well, now it's just the knees but I won't need surgery there.

Does anyone else use a breadmaker? And still like it?

Osipoto is the brand name.  Never heard of it, have you?

I've never used a bread maker, but it sounds like a good option for you. I'm sure your homemade bread is less expensive & more healthy than a lot of store bought bread. My husbands sister loved her bread maker. She used it constaintly.

I got a Zojurshi (can't spell it without getting up and checking).

Those machines are finnicky . When you make your own you can err on the side of ingredients and no big deal.

I just knead mine was still in the mixing bowl. always turns out great. Secret is the yeast. Platinum yeast only thing I'll buy.  It's in the local stores now and I don't have to order online any more.

Re: New Bread Maker

[ Edited ]

I have two breadmakers.  One makes a vertical loaf and then I got one that makes a horizontal loaf, which makes a loaf more like what you'd get in a store.  I like them both.  One of them has a knead function that I use if I see a recipe I want to try that requires kneading and that I would prefer to make in the oven.  If I had to knead by hand every time I wanted to make a loaf I'd never make bread at all so these work for me.  One is a Panasonic and the other is Breadman and I've had them for easily 20 years.

My Mom had one years ago - it made the best bread.  I can't remember the brand.

I have a Curtis Stone bread maker and I really like it.  Like others, I like to make my own bread myself but sometimes I just don't have the energy to knead the dough.  It's so easy to just put all the ingredients in and push start!   The only thing I don't care for is if you add raisins or nuts at a certain point they don't get mixed in well enough and just burn on the bottom.  So with this particular machine I stopped adding those.  But the bread itself always comes out nice.

@gloriajean I don't know this breadmaker brand but I hope you give us a review on it at some point Smiley Happy

I've had good luck with Bob's Red Mill yeast. I keep it in the freezer, so it never goes bad. I purchased dead yeast a few times from Red Star & Fleshmans. I'm done with those brands.

Congratulations!  Hope it works well.  I've been making my own breads and rolls for more than 20 years.  I invested in a

Zojirushi and have never looked back.  Enjoy your new machine

@gloriajean  I have one, and I use it a lot and love it.   It is a KBS.  I had a breadman which I also loved.   I like to make my own pizza and I use it to make my pizza dough.
