I am NOT falling for these! One time years ago, I forgot that some of the tissues I'd purchased had lotion on them and used one to wipe my glasses. OMG- can't tell you how hard it was to clean that off my lens. I no longer buy tissues with lotion ever and I'm not going to buy the Bounty plus Dawn either.

I thought this was the stupidest idea ever when I saw the commercial. If I need some dawn on my paper towel I can put some there myself for much less money. I use Clorox wipes on the stove, kitchen counters etc & also use them in the bathrooms.

Really, let's not interject politics into the Kitchen Forum, please! This is a nice, pleasant forum for the most part; let's not turn it into Viewpoints. So you're worried about the Koch brothers influencing your paper towels??? {#emotions_dlg.lol} {#emotions_dlg.lol} Give it a rest, geesh!

Maybe I'm missing something, but even if they were made by Georgia Pacific, what's the big deal? Is there some sort of controversy surrounding GP?

That is my question. What am I missing? And by the way, none of these industries are made up of saints in any way.

I believe that you asked about the reference. Anyway, no need to scold people.

Some may actually care about something that doesn't bother you and vice versa. When it's your turn, I hope nobody raps your knuckles.

On another note I bought that Scott no tube toliet paper just to see how it works without the tube. Ok, but, I'm not that lazy to just pitch the tube. LOL

it's not a matter of pitching the tube (one hopes you mean put in the recycle bin), it's a matter of saving natural resources. The trees and the energy to manufacture the tube and the energy to install and transport it.

Disposable goods like Dawn-infused paper towels may be convenient but they do come with a larger cost to society and the environment. As another poster said, a sponge or rag can be re-used instead of tossed in the trash.

I grow Luffah sponges to make scrubbers for around the house, they are very easy to grow and to dry and make great cleaning sponges as well as bathing sponges, and a damp one picks up pet hair very well from apparel and furniture.

Yes I did, but at that time I had no idea it was for political reasons. Not until I read your reply, that is. Now that I know it was a stupid partisan response, I chose to reply with my opinion and that is that discussions of that type do not belong here in the Kitchen Forum. Many posters in Viewpoints would enjoy and even welcome those types of comments.

Bounty paper towel are made by Georgia Pacific, a Koch Industries company. Just sayin'.

Bounty paper towels are made by Proctor and Gamble, not Georgia Pacific.

THANK GOD

And, by the way, it is important to a lot of us where some things come from.

SuzyQ, thanks to you, I spent the morning learning stuff I knew nothing about! Apparently, there is an app called Buycott that helps you avoid products made by companies you do not want to support. The app isn't perfect, but it is helpful. You can scan barcodes on items while you are in the store to see if the product is linked to a company or person you do not want to support. I had no idea Georgia Pacific was owned by the Koch brothers, and in fact, had no idea that is how their name is spelled. So, you have educated me several times over. Plus, I learned about new paper towels with Dawn in them at the same time. I won't buy them, but it is interesting to know about them all the same. Thanks both OP and SuzyQ for posting info here that I did not know about.
