Ellabell~we did the Kuerig thing, three different times. The machine build up scale like crazy if you have hard water. We were in a coffee club thing and had a fav flavor so delivered routinely. So, every time a machine died despite cleaning religiously, I'd call to cancel the K cups. They would say no problem we will send you a brand new machine! We fell for it twice, plus our original purchase (not here). The third time I called them and got into my old head nurse mode and I told them what was going to happen! We have a regular coffee maker and a French press and we are ok. I miss the conveinance and the hot cocoa at night. But we've had the same coffeemaker for a couple years!

as for your travel mug...I didn't read the responses. But, it's either run through two cups or use the self fill k-cup. You can fill a bit more in there and it might be enough depending on how you like your coffee!

good luck, hope you have a better experience than we did!

There's a video at the Keurig site, under support, showing how to descale your brewer.  It's easy and uses white vinegar.  Or you can spend $$ and buy the descaler from them...or Walmart...maybe other places.

I'm usually drinking a cup while getting myself together, and I add what's left in that to the travel cup when I leave.

Perhaps your mug will fit if you remove the drip tray and put the mug directly on your countr top.

Re: Need some k cup advice please

I appreciate all your advice! I should have been more clear, I'm actually wondering how you fill a travel mug in regards to using the kcups since they're meant to fill a traditional mug. Do you use a stronger coffee and use the highest cup size, 10 oz for example? I think I'm alittle confused by all the k cup choices! But I appreciate knowing that I'll actually be able to use my mug with a keurig.

ella, to fill a travel mug full, you can use 2 k-cups on the smaller cup size settings and fill it that way if you like stronger coffee.

@Ellabella, as I said earlier, Keurig sells "mug-sized" K-cups in a few varieties. I just ordered some to try on a Keurig site sale. They brew 14-16 oz size. But they are $1/mug 🙀

If you're wanting a less expensive option and you have a 2.0 machine, there is a "strong" setting which will brew a stronger cup. I have a mug that is 14 oz size. This morning, I brewed an Extra Bold K-cup (they say this on the box; there is more coffee inside) on Strong at 8 oz.  I then used the same K-cup and brewed also on on Strong, 6 oz. Voila - good-tasting 14 oz mug of coffee - and at the price of a single regular K-cup.

Your options depend on what type of coffee you enjoy drinking. If you like light and medium roasts, you would be better off just using 2 K-cups per mug. If you like dark(er) roast coffees you can use a dark roast K-cup as I've said above, or a K-cup that is labeled Extra Bold.

Re: Need some k cup advice please

Check out the icoffee by Remington. Keuriq gave my additional 15% discount to all and that irked me. I bought most of my kcups and vue cups from their site.

Everyone was talking about the icoffee machine. Well I bought mine at bed bath....and used the 20%. What a great machine and no special filters or water but I do still use filtered water. Coffee is so smooth not bitter. And yes it brews all sizes. The only thing right now is you can't program it to come on but so fast to heat anyway no problem.

it has a spin brewing process. I won't go back!!
