I own a toaster oven and so far I have made toast in it and baked in it.  Now I want to broil.  Question:  Do you place the meat (hamburger or steak) directly on the rack and insert the drip pan under it?  Does the oven cook both sides of the meat automatically?  Thank you for your help.  Cat Happy

Re: Need hlep with Toaster Oven

Your toaster oven did not come w/a broiler pan & rack?????

Never broil directly on the toaster oven rack.

Yes, you need to turn meat(s) over when broiler.  Only one side gets broiled at a time.  Broiler heat is on top.  Bottem wires do not get hot.

@Mz iMac  I have a booklet and it does show the wire rack and pan goes underneath it.  I would think I place on the wire rack because if you place the meat in a small pan, the drippings may catch fire.

@Katcat1

If that is what your instruction/user manual is stating, then follow their instructions.

I just never heard of using the actual rack to broil.  All toaster ovens & countertop ovens that I have seen all have a separate rack w/broiler pan.

Edit:  I see that Black & Decker has the kind of oven that you have.  Is yours a B&D?

FWIW.....

Any questions regarding your product should be addressed directly to the manufacturer if the "user manual" is confusing.

Re: Need hlep with Toaster Oven

@Mz iMac  I have  Cruisant and it's a little bigger than the B&W shown.  However, I placed the rack in and then the pan but pan is a little further away from the rack.  It cooked my burger perfectly.  I am trying to get away from my oven because it is not self clean.  If I placed the burger or steak in a pan, it would have to have holes in bottom for drainage.  P.S.  Macys has an sale going on until 8/24 and Nordstrom is matching prices.
