Re: My first attempt at Egg in a Hole!

Frannie, that is a cute story.

I never had these growing up. I have memories of my dad making fried eggs, (he basted them and did not turn them over). But, I never had fried eggs until I was an adult. I always had scrambled, and I think sometimes my mom made them, and sometimes my dad made them.

Ambermoon, Hi, thanks for the reply. I think that is 2 votes for one-eyed sailor!

I think it is so interesting to read everyone's story.

We love eggs in our house and I've always wanted to make them this way and I just haven't. Thanks for the nudge to try it in the morning.Smiley Happy

Re: My first attempt at Egg in a Hole!

We called them egg in a nest.

I think it is my favorite way to eat an egg.

just made these this morning. We call them ""peek-a-boos"" in our family. I butter both side and grill them a little like grilled cheese and put the egg in. I just cut a hole in the bread with a knife. Love them.

I butter both sides the brown one side in the skillet ; flip it over and crack the egg into the hole you made with a jelly jar or juice glass....leave the cutout bread in the skillet to brown and get crispy while the egg cooks.

I fixed them for my daughter when she was little. They were called ""toad in a hole"" back then.

funny, {#emotions_dlg.lol}

the jelly jar is just the right size for the egg, I think they used to make these at my son's camp that is why I started doing it for him. Eggs with anything is good to me
