I don't watch QVC, so I miss the presentations.  I find the good stuff on these boards.

Thanks!

yes, I found I needed a little more water too in this new one- I think Calrose is very similar to the Japanese rice- perhaps it is more dense? So when I opened it and saw/felt the "crunchy" consistency, I added a couple tablespoons more water, stirred it and just left it on warm with the lid on for a few more minutes..

I like htis new one, cause you can see through the lid..the WP doesnt have that option and always remember, that steam is HOT! ( i forgot once...)

Thanks, @Mothertrucker !

Yours is a good idea.  I added a couple of more T of water and turned it on again, it ran for something like 4 minutes.  Your way sounds better Smiley Happy

I hope to get my Skinny Mini Cooker tomorrow. I hate how things get swapped over to the regular mail after shipping it UPS. I would have gotten it today.

I am looking forward to getting it and starting to use it. I am sure I will love it.

Any feedback or recipes you have tried would be great to see how everyone is liking it.

I'll second that Bananas Foster BP Recipe and raise you a Bourbon Chicken Tenders Recipe on pg. 21, @MKR14!  That one was posted on an earlier thread when the book first came out and was very popular.  I've made most of the recipes, and enjoyed them all.  The Smothered Pork Chop Recipe is another fave. Have fun with it!  Oh...and treat yourself to some Mac & Cheese!  Swoon.Woman LOL

Re: My Skinny Mini came yesterday

Mine came yesterday but too late in the day to make anything so I tried breakfast in it this morning (some leftover taco type casserole that I threw a scrambled egg over with some cheese).  Came out perfectly and I love the glass lid.  Also love the size of the steamer.  I'll be able to put my big steamer away so more counterspace.

I don't need rice as of this minute but will probably make some tomorrow.  I think this is a real winner for me, so glad I bought it!

Re: My Skinny Mini came yesterday

Thanks gokat and all that are posting feedback. I ordered the Simply Rice Cookbook on HSN last night by Marian Katz that some of you suggested. I think it was $17.95 the other day but it was $19.95 yesterday.

For the ones not knowing what the Skinny Mini is it is a small Rice/Multi Cooker TSV HSN had last week by Lorena Garcia. It came in colors with an extra steamer basket as a bonus. It also has a glass lid. It was $29.95 but sold out. It shows $49.95 with no steamer basket right now. Sometimes they will bring back at a less price but not as low as the TSV they had.

@MKR14 I hesitated buying that book because of the price but it was the best $20 I ever spent as it expanded the amount of use I have been giving my small rice cooker.

I received Lorena's late last night but have been cooking up a storm today . . . made a cheese burger casserole and a rice and broccoli casserole from Marian's cook book (both came out great) and also made plain rice which was also a success.

I am just thrilled with this new cooker!

Re: My Skinny Mini came yesterday

Hi mtc and thanks for the feedback. I got my rice cooker this afternoon and can't wait to play around with it tomorrow. I think I will make a small omelet for breakfast.

I got the Rio Red and it was a true cranberry color and matches my Keurig. I washed the cooker accessories to get ready for the morning. I love Mac and cheese and will make some in a few days. I have the Marian Getz book coming and it sounds like she has good hints as well as recipes.

I just ordered Marlene Koch new book also as I have the rest of hers. I am on a diet and exercising right now to get 10 lbs off to make it easier having A-Fib. I put the weight on being so tired all the time. I am doing better and exercising isn't that bad when you do it to your favorite music. This cooker will help me with portion control.

i will post as soon as I try a few recipes. Smiley Happy

I received my Skinny Mini yesterday and made an omelet for breakfast. I put all the ingredients in and turned it on and went into the livingroom and enjoyed my coffee. I came back out to the kitchen and the omelet was on warm and took between 8-10 minutes -I think-as there isn't anything to let you know when it is done other than it goes to warm. That is fine with me. It was perfectly done with just a small hint of pale brown on the bottom. It was just the right portion for me and I may make it just a little smaller the next time. I will try a few new recipes over the next few days.I am making a Cauliflower Cheese Casserole and a Spinach Tart today but they are bigger and need to be baked in the oven. I may put a small amount of each in the mini and see how it would work also. These two recipes are Richard Simmons from his Golden Edition Cookbook I have had for years from his Deal-A-Meal days.

Sunday I am going to make the Mac and Cheese that Lorena showed. The Egg Muffin with cheese also looked good. I saved the video of one her presentations to look back on also. That recipe also is in the recipe cards. I am glad I ordered the Rice Cooker Cookbook of Marian Getz as not many of the recipes on the cards that I would make.
