My Skinny Mini came yesterday

Guess it cme when I was at work yesterday, cause Ididnt notice it by the front door till this morning (I come in thru the garage)...Havent used it yet, but first impression is it IS adorable! however, it seemed on TV it was a lot bigger than my Wolfgang Puck cooker, and while it DOES seem to hold more, the inner pot is deceptively shallow, it does not go to the bottom of the outer pot like the WP does..But it IS wider- finding a spot for it today. might use it!

Let us know how you like it. I have the Wolfgang Puck one and I really like it, once I found out how to use it for other things rather than rice. Figuring out cooking times was my problem with it. But with time I have learned!

one difference is obvious..You have to plug it in every time you use it..The cord is attached to the unit and no on/off swith..If left plugged in, it would constantly be in "keep warm" mode...

I'm glad you received yours and I can't wait to hear more, but I agree, it should have an on/off switch.

Do the recipes look good?

Yep....there's a lot of things they don't tell you in the presentation! They also don't tell you, that you have to wait a few minutes before you can switch back from warm to cook. And how long you have to cook something and how many times you have to switch back to cook something completely. They did the same thing when presenting Wolfgang Punks mini rice cooker!!!! 😡

I would recommend getting this cookbook: #396-914 Marian Getz "Simply the Best: Rice Cooker Recipes" Cookbook. It's offered at HSN. The recipes in the book are converted for the mini rice cooker. They convert the recipes for three sizes of rice cookers. Lots of good recipes too.

@Noel7 the recipes are nothing special, but will certainly  help you in knowing the ratio of say, pasta to liquid etc. for making up your own- They look good, I dont mean thaat they dont..

These machines would be big duds without Marian's Rice Cooker  cookbook- I cannot recommned it highly enough!

Re: My Skinny Mini came yesterday

OK, curiosity got the better of me..

Took some ground beef, crumbled it in the bottom of the mini, with some sliced green onions and Penzeys taco seasoning..pressed the button, put on the lid (really like the lid cause you can see into it and you don't get a steam burn when you open it!)

Don't know how long it took, but  it started to smell good (Hey I was playing Bejeweled Blitz and I lost track of itme) I went in, checked on it, added some refried beans, covered back up for a couple minutes and then stuffed it and some cheese, shreded lettuce and avocado into a flour tortilla..

YUM and I only messed up one little pot!

easy!

I may go have another...

I'm sorry you're upset about the way the mini cookers are presented, @Naturesbeauty.  The reason they can't tell us EXACTLY how many cycles and how long between cycles is because the unit sensor works by the amount of liquid in the cooker.  Altitude, humidity, etc., have an impact on the timing so it isn't like cooking on a stove.   Marian's cookbook goes into more detail within the recipes.  I've been using electric rice cookers for many years, and it's just not an exact science.   I'm a big fan of the portable/mini cookers here, and found the learning curve to be very short and definitely worth the effort. Woman Happy
