My Pressure Cooker Met Its Maker

I had the pressure cooker that QVC had on about a year or so ago that talked. I was one of the lucky ones that got one worked. It still worked until Saturday night when I took a tumble with it in my hands. Pieces went everywhere unfortunately and my heart broke right along with it. So, now I need a new one and would like some input on which ones you like.

I have the Montel Williams Living Well 6qt PC and would not recommend it.

I recommend a stove top model. Mine is 10+ years! I can even throw the whole thing in the dishwasher. PC's have safety features now. Don't be afraid of a stovetop PC. It was my first PC. I've never messed anything up.

Re: My Pressure Cooker Met Its Maker

I love my Nesco 6qt electric pressure cooker that I got from Amazon ($74) 3 yrs. ago. It cooks with both low and high pressure, it will also slow cook like a crock pot and brown meat. I checked on these this past week at Amazon and they are still $74 and free shipping. It has a lot of reviews, check it out!

I also have a Fagor stovetop that I love, but if you are looking for something to literally "set and forget" then, electric is the way to go! Cuisinart also has a 6 qt electric model that gets really high reviews that you may want to check out (also on amazon). What I love so much about the Nesco is the ability to switch from high pressure to crock pot type cooking. I do this a lot for spaghetti and chili; I like to cook the sauce under high pressure while I am browning the meat and then add the meat to the pot and switch to slow cook for the remaining cook time.

Mine is a Mattra. It's 5 quarts. I wanted a smaller model. I think I only paid $30 for it!
