I'm here for 10 days so she is letting me do all the cooking. I don't mind, she had dental work done on Wed, and had to drink liquids the first day and soft foods the second day. Now she is back to regular food. So if we don't go out, I cook in.
I've made her a batch of Southern Cheese Straws, French Apple Pie and making a double batch of Kolaches today. I just made up the dough and it is rising.
Tonight we are having Country Fried Steak and Gravy, Rice, Tomatoes and some cooked apples.
The apples came from trees my dad started over 25 years ago. The trees first came from my grandmothers yard, daddy grew my trees from cuttings and now we have apples from the trees.
They were always called "Cheese Apples", we just slice them with the peelings on and cook them in a little butter, cinnamon and sugar like my grandparents did. They sure are good like that.
Well back to cooking the kolaches, I make them and freeze them. She then warms them in the microwave for breakfast.
