You're the one who is refusing to "learn" as you say.
This isn't about a good list and a bad list.
This is about being cautious. The CDC doesn't have all the answers yet, they actually know very little. What they do know is not the end, it is only the beginning.

""currently NOT on the list""
This is the key. ""Currently"" as in ""the list will keep expanding. As it always does in these cases.

That list might not be very dePrendable.

Agreed. But it would seem that people would rather get themselves all in a panic over it, rather than actually read any credible statements.
You can't educate those who refuse to learn.
*sigh*
Perhaps the 'uneducated' here are the ones who cannot read between the lines. Words like 'not currently' don't translate into 'completely cleared' or 'safe to eat'.
And if one reads the CDC's complete statement, they say unequivocally not to eat ANY COMMERCIALLY PRODUCED CARAMEL APPLES at this time. It is very early in the investigation, no one is sure exactly what component contains the bacteria, or what all manufacturers may be involved. So go ahead, those of you who think we are all ignorant, and eat away. Best of luck with it.

It clearly states that Mrs. Prendable is NOT on the list.
I'll say it again, Mrs. Prendable is NOT on the list.
I bought a package, and I ate one apple, and gave the rest to my co-workers as a Christmas treat.
Guess what?
NOBODY GOT SICK!!!!!
Why?
Because,
MRS. PRENDABLE'S APPLES ARE NOT ON THE LIST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Can you post this "list" you are talking about. Last I heard, no list had been made available by the CDC.

I have small children coming for Christmas, and I would never take any kind of chance with their well being. It broke my heart, but I dumped all the Mrs. Prindables apple and asked politely for a refund. (The customer service person was rude, gave me the refund and than hung up on me. ) Better safe than sorry!
I absolutely agree with you. It's never a good idea to take chances with food. They're likely fine, but - as others have said - it's not worth the risk. Even if we decided to take that risk ourselves, it's unfair to give these apples to other people who will either be unaware and eat them, or will have heard about the problem & have a skeevy feeling about what was intended to be something nice.
I think it's really appalling that the CS rep you spoke to was rude and hung up abruptly. What is going on there? They have a return policy that states returns are fine for any reason,, so no one calling should be having an uphill battle. In light of this highly publicized problem, it's unbelievable that QVC isn't making refunds super-easy right now. It would be much better from a PR point of view if every caller was treated kindly and if refunds were processed as easily as possible.
Being nasty to customers is never good of course, but when one of their products is causing alarm, they should be going above & beyond to make customers feel cared about.

The CDC is saying not to eat any, whether they're on the list or not. As you said, Mrs. P's is "not currently" on the list. But they have not been cleared. "Not currently" means not right now. It doesn't mean they won't be added to the list tomorrow or 3 weeks from now. The "credible statement" that should be read & understood is the one issued by the CDC.
Personally, I would get no pleasure from eating something that potentially could be a problem, and I could not in good conscience give them to someone else. We're all entitled to our own opinions, but of course, but until the CDC changes their statement, I will choose other treats to enjoy & to gift to others. IMO it's not a huge hardship. It just makes sense.
No one is in a panic, btw. I've seen discussions about this, and disappointment in the way QVC is handling it, but no hysteria or panic.
