Mixer- how important is paddle

[ Edited ]

Have a recipe I want to try but it specifically says to use the paddle attachment. My KA mixer does not have a paddle and I'm wondering if it is important to the success of the recipe. Mine has a whisk, regular beaters and dough hooks.

@AuntG - It sounds like your recipe is referring to the KA stand mixer and you are referring to the KA hand mixer—is that correct? If so, you can just use the standard beaters on your hand mixer; you may just need to beat for longer than the recipe calls for due to the difference in power between the stand and hand mixers.

Yes @loriqvc  it's a KA hand mixer with eight or nine speeds. Thank you.

@AuntG  Some recipes assume everyone will use a stand mixer. The paddle beater is the regular beater on a KA stand mixer (as opposed to the whisk or dough hook). I think you’ll be fine if you use the regular beaters on your hand mixer.

Your recipe will be fine using your hand mixer.  Use the regular beaters.
