Re: Mini cooker

[ Edited ]
In general the cooking cycle is approximately 10 to 20 minutes, depending upon how much is in the pot and how thick the items are. I can cook 3 chicken thighs in a sauce in just one cycle. If I try to put more chicken thighs in, then I will need to start another cycle. That 2nd cycle should turn off when the chicken is done (like 5 or 7 minutes), not just run another 20 minutes. I would not put something in and leave the house – the cooking time is too short – not a crock pot where is cooks all day. I would put something in and go do other chores or go outside in my yard, or take the dog for a short walk. I have never seen it stay on longer than 20 minutes. I have had to go for the 2nd cycle, but that was because I put too much thick meat into the pot, trying to get a “leftovers” serving as a bonus. The same is true for Wolfgang Puck’s cooker as well as Lorena’s cooker. Hope that helps.

I have owned both for a while and love them both dearly. As for cooking time, you don’t set it for a time, it just turns off when it thinks it is done. It is usually right and the times when the food still needed more cooking was usually because I stuffed too much into the pot in the first place. Lorena’s has the nice feature of a cook & look glass top so you can see how it is doing while it is cooking. I don’t think I could say which I like better and I use them both often. If you are torn, err on the side of making the purchase – I am confident you will love this adorable little cooker.

I just watched the demo again...and this time Lorena said when it shuts off you will have to turn it over or may have to cook longer....a caller asked how long stuff takes to cook and she skirted around the answer with it depends on what it is...i didn't like that...how about saying if its eggs...or if it rice...give us a about time...

Also....how can you put an item in the pot...set it and walk away....what happens if that item needs to cook longer...and it sits there till you come back to it...she made it sound like you could go off to work or shop...well that could be a long time to sit only half cooked...

I am not getting goof vibes with her...the hosts....and this item...anyone able to ease my miind....other then you like yours....thank you...

You CAN set and walk away, but not for long! They said "take a shower".. Yep you sure can!  it DOES keep food warm though, so in most cases, where you do not have to do a second cycle, it's ok to be not right on top of it.

And in all fairness to the hosts, it is hard to say how long things take, because it basically works on a moisture sensor to tell when things are done. I.e., when there is no more copious  steam coming out of the food...so something really dense would take a different amount of time than say something very saucy...

hope le this helps...

The little cookers are very easy to use, @circles.  If you think of it as a low pressure cooker perhaps that will make it more clear.  The cover has an area where the steam escapes as you cook. You're cooking with liquids in varying amounts depending on the recipe so that determines the timing. The liquid dissipates as the recipe cooks.  The cookers have sensors that shut down to warm when the liquid reaches a certain level.  One of the keys to your success with the cooker(s) is having recipes on hand that you will use.  I can recommend (along with many other users) the Marian Getz RC Cookbook 396-914 (southern channel) .  Woman Happy

Hi Lacey, I'm sorry I didn't see your post first yesterday.  I was in a hurry to get to an appointment and didn't see yours.
