Our local grocery store chain is having a huge meat sale.....although I didn't just go grocery shopping just for this sale, I picked up a porterhouse steak priced slightly over $5 a pound and some ground chuck priced slightly over $3 a pound.
The steak was the toughest piece of meat I have ever ate, needless to say, the dog got a good portion of it. I opened up the ground chuck to package it in smaller portion sizes for the freezer and something just wasn't right with it. It all went back last night and to my surprise, the butcher told me this is all beef imported from Mexico and he "wouldn't eat it". Now where in the world is a sign that tells me this?
My question should of been "if you wouldn't eat it....why are you selling it? But the answer is probably as obvious as it seems.....because it draws people to the store and it's cheap!
Never again....they just lost me as a customer. I had no idea we import beef but now I know.
