Measuring Brown Sugar??

I took a 1 pound box of brown sugar and measured it into cups. The one pound box yielded 2 cups packed. Somewhere on the net it was more. One pound box was equal to 2 2/3 cups. Oh well, you learn something new each day!!! Guess I'll go by my measurement.
