Re: Martha Stewart Marley Spoon Home Delivery Meals

Yes, I bought vegetarian.  I cooked the fajita pizza with arugula salad tonight.  It was beyond good.  So flavorful!  I was really impressed.  My husband is still talking how good the pizza was!  My box came yesterday, late. It was packaged beautifullay, intact with ice still frozen.  I am in California, and it has been warm here.  I have vegetarian enchiladas, and macn cheese left to make

Yes, I ordered all three: vegetarian, chicken, and beef, with arrival dates one week apart. I ordered the small size, which is made for two; nice to have fresh one night and have the second portion the next day for lunch as leftovers if you don't have someone to share with.

I have to agree...they were packaged well with the two ice blocks still solid when they arrived. It was two-day delivery. The photos and instructions are great and easy to follow. The bulk of each meal comes in a brown paper bag, with some of the ancillary items outside the bag. So it is easy to grab the clearly-labeled bag you want to use without having to search out each ingredient.

The vegetarian meals were: Cheesy Fajita Pizza, Vegetable Enchiladas, and Macaroni and Cheese. Who would have thought that enchiladas made with spinach could be so good? Loved all three meals.

The chicken meals were: Caramel Chicken, Fried Chicken Sandwiches, and Skillet Chicken Parmesan. Loved all three meals.

I received the beef yesterday and they are: Grass-Fed Beef Burger, Mini Meatloaves, and Irish Beef Stew. Had the stew last night and the potatoes were the best part of it! I am eager to try the burger and meatloaves this weekend.

From what I remember of the presentation, the host would say you have a week to eat the food, and Martha several times inserted "sooner if you can." And I agree. I finish them up the first three days after arrival. All food is exceptionally fresh and great looking, but like anything I purchase at the store, I want to eat these items as soon as possible while they are at their peak.

I found it interesting and probably typical of Martha to not only include everything for you, but to have only the best. For instance, if the recipe calls for lettuce, she included a full head of lettuce, still with its roots attached and a little bit of moist dirt, all within a plastic baggie. Not several leaves of lettuce cut off and placed in a baggie or asking you to buy them.

The meals included everything you need, except you supply coarse kosher salt, freshly ground pepper, and olive oil. One of the recipes required you supply one tablespoon of flour. So she includes everything else. If it requires one or two cloves of garlic, she has included a whole bulb for you. If it asks for mayonnaise, she includes that in a packet. The vegetables were extremely fresh looking and tasted good.

The green salads are all very tasty. The seasonings are excellent. She puts things together that I would not think of. For instance, her fries were made of carrots and turnips she supplied for one of the vegetarian meals.

I find that all the recipes so far are labor intensive. LOL! I don't normally go to all this work for a meal. I use up way more utensils, pots, and pans than I usually need in order to eat. Ha! I make simple meals for myself, so this is way beyond what I normally do, but it might be normal for the rest of you.

I highly recommend Martha's meals and am hopeful she will come up with some more recipes. And, of course, you can continue to make these meals on your own since you have the full recipe cards (large) to hang onto.

This is the only home delivery service that I have considered trying.  When she first announced it on her blog, it looked interesting, but I was waiting for it to have a lot of reviews before trying it.

Today i made the mac n cheese.  As I stated on an earlied post in this thread, I received the vegetarian kits Tuesday.  i am in California, and everything was super fresh.  I first cooked the pizza, and today I made meal 2.  Wow, it was good.  I ordered the meal for 3-4, although there is just the two of us.  The pizza fed us "healthy" eaters, with a nice slice left over.  The mac and cheese feeds probably 6 people. It is a slightly tangy, white cheese mac n cheese creamy.  It is perfectly covered with cheese, not dripping. Or overly sharp.  As i said, I did add cayenne to add extra zip. I also minced a left over hunk of sharp chedder I had left over.  Maybe 1/4 inch by 2 inch. It was a last minute thought, so I stired it in after it was made and it melted fine. The panko crumb topping with garlic is so simple, yet it adds a whole dimention to the meal.  Nice contract to the texture. . I am going to freeze a couple bags of left overs.  The salad was crisp! Dressing was good, but I did add and blend a half of jalapeno Ihad left over from a few days ago. I also tried butter lettuce.  I usually eat kale, spinach, cabbage and romain or spring mix.   i really liked the butter lettuce and will buy it at the store.   i also added a quarter teaspoon cayene pepper to cheese sauce.

what I am finding with each of these meals is that I am learning a simple recipe I could remake later. These meals have the ingredients measured to the eeenth degree!  They are perfect!!!  No left over ingredients. I usuually eat organic, I rarely veer, but blew caution to the wind.  However, I notice she does include many organic ingredients, and although her cheese is not organic, it is small farm, no filler stuff, and quality.

I am very happy with the purchase.  I went to reorder, and see they are sold out. I like it so much, I am going to reorder from her website.

If you don't mind sharing, how much did this run for both sizes?  The info isn't on the item page since it is sold out.

Re: Martha Stewart Marley Spoon Home Delivery Meals

I got the vegetarian package, and it was much better than I anticipated. Even my really picky husband liked the meals ( I didn't mention "vegetarian" , lol) my favorite was the enchiladas, but it all was delicious.  Don't like arugula, but the dressing was good. I would order again.

@Tigriss

It was 93.00 for the 4 person, 3 meal package.  That Is 31 bucks a meal.  If you compare with other services, this was a good deal. Yes, of course one could cook each meal for less.  It is a luxury and a great convenience.  For us, it actually made  5 meals with left overs for  lunch on 2 of the meals.  We had pizza, mac n cheese and enchiladas.  We ate most of the pizza in one meal, there was one slice for my husband the next day.  That was his absoulute favorite.  I have to sa, the crust she sent was amazing.  The one dish that made an army load was the mac N cheese.  That made 2 dinners and i froze enough for someones lunch.  The enchiladas are 2 meals for us..and one snack

i havent seen better produce.  It is like a good farmers market

i am going to martha and marle spoons online service, it is cheaper with a discount they give you for sarting.  I would buy more from qvc, but they are sold out!!!  Darn it
