March has just been declared official Fridge and Freezer Cleaning Month. I just declared it! Make it SO!![]()
Seriously thought, that is what we are going to do! Eat it or throw it out then restock what we need. That stuff has been in there too long--at least a lot of it!
Want to join us? Adventures in what's for supper? ![]()

No, not me. I just defrosted my two deep freezers about a month ago. I went through all my items and got rid of a few things and we ate other stuff I had forgot about.
My freezer with my fridge somehow had it's drawer not shut tight enough last summer. We were on vacation. When we got home, mostly everything was defrosted...cold but defrosted.
I threw away most of it to be safe. That freezer had expensive stuff in it....crab, lobster, steaks, etc.
That about killed me to toss most of it. I am careful to make sure the drawer is always closed tight now.
I try to keep my food organized, rotated and used up. I hate to have to waste things. We buy in bulk.
I will clean the outside of my refrigerater though. It's always dirty looking and I am always wiping it off....fingerprints and dust.

I have a tiny refer/freezer in my apt so I HAVE to go thru it every week at least----to shuffle stuff around or take inventory on what I can buy to go into my freezer----Can't do much bulk buying----

@Sooner Funny you should mention this. Three days ago DH took inventory of our freezers and it's astounding how much we have stocked up for TWO people. The only things I need to buy going forward food wise, for a long while will be fresh stuff.

My Refrig just died with order of R's steaks + shrimp + $200 grocery shopping. Just quit, mush meat.
Big freezer in basement = tossing some stuff now -
more later.

@Carmie YOU are always a step ahead of me missy! ![]()
Don't you hate freezer and fridge cleaning?
I do.
So I try to "encourage" hubby to tackle it. Reminding him there is probably some ice cream that needs to be eaten.

@Pezzie Yep! That's where we are so we are going to eat the freezer this month and toss what is too bad to eat! We have one in the house and one in the garage.

Count me in @Sooner!
In January I did some meal prep for the freezer. We already had a bunch of steaks, chops, ground beef, etc. We are committed to using what we have and just buying produce, eggs, and dairy until the meat and meals are used up. - or darn close to it. I'm sure it'll easily take us into April.

I really need to clean out the freezers in the garage! I have a chest freezer out there including a fridge that has a freezer too.
I have been meaning to clean them out but it seems that it's either too cold or too hot out there. I need to make it a priority this month.
