@Mom2Dogs Can you just use real maple syrup?

@haddon9  I have not tried syrup yet, but it was mentioned.  I wish companies would quit messing with products.

Re: Maple flavoring for baking

I combine a small amount of Crescent Mapleine with a generous pour of maple syrup upon the recommendation of a cook far better than myself. I've had guests tell me that the maple flavor in baked desserts is perfect.

You are welcome.

Flavorings/extracts and real syrups are much like dried herbs and fresh herbs.  You use more fresh herbs in recipes then dried because of the concentrated flavor of dried.

Re: Maple flavoring for baking

@Mom2Dogs - due to our way of eating, I use flavorings in certain things when I don't eat the real food product.  For instance, we don't eat corn so I'll use a sweet corn flavoring to make cornbread.  Another one that most people don't even know exists is mashed potato flavoring.  I add that to mashed cauliflower.  Anyway, these flavorings can be difficult to find, but awhile back I found a website that I saved and will be buying from when my current flavoring supply is depleted.  The website is called One on One Flavors - The Flavor Superstore -  www.oooflavors dot com.  I don't know if you want to try one more time but they do have maple flavoring.  That's the route I would personally take because maple syrup is out of the question for us. Plus it's a rigmarole to have recalculate a recipe when you swap the ingredients.  JMO

@JeanLouiseFinch   Thanks for the info...I was talking about this with a friend today, she feels like I do about the flavoring...I will share that web site with her as well.

thanks.

I looked at the website..lets say we eat potatoes but want more flavor...is the mashed potato flavoring used for that reason as well as the reason you use it to flavor cauliflower?   It is an interesting website, thanks!

@Mom2Dogs - that's right.  Since we don't eat potatoes, I'll make creamy mashed cauliflower, but to me it still tastes like cauliflower.  That isn't always a bad thing but sometimes we want the mashed potatoes & gravy experience. The flavoring gives us that without us comprising.  I don't see  why you couldn't use the flavoring in actual mashed potatoes to increase the depth of flavor.  Just add a dropper at a time, stir, and taste until you are satisfied.  Be careful not to overdo it.  I don't know what would happen if you did.  If you're thinking about thanksgiving, I'd do a test batch in advance.
