Just for your info.... this is not a small mom and pop business.  It is a publically traded company on the stock exchange and they sell to over 45 retailers as well as QVC.   It is a $51.5M company!

@Mombo1

Maybe not, judging by some of the reviews of this brand's products, LOL!

Pork Chops w/ cauliflower

[ Edited ]

This is a Greek dish that I made today for lunch. Its lovely summer dish we use in Athens. Its very easy and I hope you'll like:

4 pork chops (best if no bones)

1 cauliflower cut in eight pieces

1/2 cup of olive oil

1 onion cut in pieces (large or small)

1 can of tomatoes

1 cup of Maggie/Knorr filled with water

salt & pepper

Crisp the meat in the olive oil (around 4 minutes each side), then add the onion. Wait around 8 minutes until the onion is browned, add the can of tomatoes, seasoned water, salt, pepper and now add the cauliflower. Wait until your casserole boils, cover and turn your cooker on the middle heat. Wait for 40 minutes, shaking the pan during the cook time (do not twirl the food while cooking as the cauliflower will desentigrade.

That's it and Kali Oreksi (bon appetit)

I caved and bought month ago.  OMG it was terrible.  Something was sour - either the meat-a-balls or the sauce.  I dumped it all down the garbage disposal and got a refund.

Other Reviews matched mine.

They've sold them in one of the larger stores here.

I've bought in a "pinch" they were OK but I like my recipe which I learned from my Sicilian grandmom.  Nothing compares to fresh homemade meatballs (or any food for that matter).

Re: Mama Mancini

[ Edited ]

@Seriously20  Who claimed it was a mom & pop small business?  It looks like you made that up just to complain about yet another food brand in all of your posts.  Very interesting.

They have always said the recipe is an old world recipe that Daniel Mancini has from his grandmother's meatball recipe that she brought over with her.  Where in that does it say mom & pop small business?  Whether you like their food or not, they still did not misrepresent themselves.

I actually prefer Rastelli's veal, pork, and beef combined meatballs.  My family loved them.

The meatballs can be found at my local grocery store. I tried the meatballs once and once was enough.

The price of the meatballs/sauce whether at QVC or supermarkets suggests gourmet and homemade. The taste proves other wise at least to me. The hosts go crazy over the product which tells me one of two things: They've never had really good homemade sauce and meatballs or they are pushing the product how they are told to do it by acting as if it is superb. Myself? It tastes like any other frozen meatball and sauce you buy in the frozen food dept.

The gentleman selling this product is a salesman first and foremost and he uses techniques meant to tug at the heart strings. He starts with the supposedly only picture of his grandmother and himself and then he talks about how it is her "recipe" and when I hear the recipe schtick I cringe. WHen I was a kid I asked my grandmother for her sauce and meatball "recipe" and she looked at me and flat told me NO and I was hurt for a few seconds until she explained to me it's more about techique, adaptation, taste, etc.., than an actual recipe. In other words, the list of ingredients could be given but the amounts, specific brands and how you put them together is what matters but those change at times. IDK. Maybe I am just a sauce and meatball snob?
