But I am born, raised and still live right in the heart of TX and believe me you will find so many BBQ brisket recipes around, everyone makes it different. One tried and true recipe is just that and add to that 100's and 100's more! BBQ is regional even in TX. it is made lots of different ways. But do enjoy yours
I'm sure it will be delish.
Shop Till You Drop,
Sure you can find loads of Texas Brisket recipes everywhere in the Lone Star State, but I posted which I personally favor, and my preference as to how I smoke and BBQ foods.
Everyone can prepare whatever they prefer and use whichever smoking or BBQ method they prefer....Ya know freedom of choice, and all that good stuff.

Hi beckyb1012,
My Texas Peach Cobbler with Ice cream will be our dessert today, but I do also make a wonderful Banana Pudding too, and for ice cream we prefer homemade using an electric ice cream maker as I like being able to mix my own ingredients without all the preservatives usually found in store bought.
Those are really the best. Such fond memories of before electric came out and we did the crank kind (rock salt) every week-end. Mom always had one of us kids sit on top of towels on top of the ice cream maker while she worked the handle. Took soooooo long to fix. Felt amazing to buy the electric kind when they got popular. Enjoy that great food!!

This has nothing to do w/Bar-Be-Que but when I made brisket I would marinate it in cola.

Yes they were fond memories and i recall my family churning their own butter, and making their own ice cream by hand churning away and adding the rock salt and other ingredients to it. Even when modern conveniences first arrived my ancestors were resistant to trying them.
Those days are long gone now, but at least with the hand crack ice cream makers, which I did use, and the newer electric models it for me is easier to let the electric model churn away and produce a delicious fresh tasting with no preservatives ice cream, of our choice.

Wow! My family comes from Palestine Texas, so perhaps I DO know a little about BBQ....
BTW for those who are interested, the Masterbuilt, which, while electric DOES use real wood chips for smoking, not pellets or charcoal..
For Nightowlz and anyone else who is interested, there are about 5000 strong of us die hard smokers who love to compare and share tips and tricks and recipes on Facebook- Our page is called "My Masterbuilt Electric Smoker" and it is a closed group, so please join us and join in the fun..WE are a great group and we even get discounts from MES and many other companies who recognize what we are all about!

The aroma was very appetizing of what was yet to come.
The "Authentic slow smoked post oak wood beef brisket" was delicious, succulent, very tender.
The fix'ens were equally tasty.
The garlic pickles had a nice kick to them which also complimented the diced Texas Style Potato salad, slaw, and smoked baked beans.
The Texas style mile high peach cobbler with homemade strawberry chunk ice cream was the perfect dessert to top off a great Texas style meal.
We have lots of leftovers to enjoy, and tomorrow will shred some of the Brisket and make pulled pork sandwiches in homemade BBQ sauce to also enjoy.
I hope if the recipes I posted are prepared they will turn out as delicious as ours did.
So well worth the effort and time because nothing beats "Authentic smoking low and slow, using a smoker and firebox, along with any of the Texas woods available on the internet, in addition to Texas rubs, and other spices".

I've never tried it since living alone, I don't often cook larger cuts of meat, but it sounded great for times when you don't want to cook outside. On 3/19/2015 Shop Till you Drop said:LOL I find your very long explanation of Authentic Texas BBQ rather funny.
