@catter70

At the very least, butter will cost more.  This thread is just a heads up for those that do a lot of baking, etc.

Personally, even if you don't bake, I think we use more butter around the holidays.

OTOH .....  If you don't use much butter, there's no reason to stock up ... right?

Butter by me has been near $6 a pound. Where the heck has it been so low that a big increase makes it $3 a pound?

Yeah, I was wondering that too. Store-brand butter here is around $4 a pound. The name-brand stuff is a dollar or two more. I haven't seen $3 a pound butter in over a year.

[ Edited ]

I bought butter at Safeway on Thursday for $1.99 a pound. It was a grand opening sale for a new location.

I already had two pounds in the freezer, but I'll need more for holiday baking and cooking.

They also have large eggs on sale for .97 a dozen.

Yikes!    Not only "baking"....but think about how much you use for the turkey stuffing....

PS:   I forget about the turkey....and just eat the stuffing!    My absolute favorite "part" of the turkey....

@Desertdi Butter for dressing?  We use about a tablespoon to saute the onions and celery, but that's all we'd use in dressing (stuffing to some).

@Sooner  I make a butter slather for the Turkey.  Still, 3 boxes  should get me through the the Holidays with room to share.

@Sooner

At least a cup...maybe MORE, and I also "grease" the bird...   Also,  make a separate batch in a casserole dish.     di

Re: MARTHA STEWART: STOCK UP ON BUTTER IF YOU'LL BE BAKING

I have seen less sales on butter.  Last time I got butter, Aldi's had 2/$6.  I was hoping to stock up this month.  I do typically have 3-4 pounds in the freezer.  We use butter for everything.  We don't care for margarine.  Toast, bagels, French toast, pancakes, cooking.  The store brands are ok for us.
