Shocking, at least to me, statistics on how unsuccessful weight loss diets can be.😳🥺

IMO, that's because people look at a diet as a bandaid.  Once the weight is down, they resume the same old habits.  A mindset shift and permanent lifestyle change is key.

Re: Low Sugar - Low Carb … enough

I appreciate some of the info he has given. I have had a life long battle of corralling the lbs. it is a bumpy journey. They are always hiding and waiting to return home. But when they are being conquered it is joyful. Smiley Happy

I like DV and find him kind and loving in a way that I have a hunch is genuine.

I would much rather hear a bit about his plan (he went to a Dr.) than hear him saying he could bury his face in a food , eat it in huge portions , or other gluttonous wording.

I would consider buying a cookbook about how he lost. For me Hope springs eternaland I can always find room in my cookbook shelf.

Did you read the link @JeanLouiseFinch ? That is not what it said. Apparently, the metabolic rate we burn calories changes and our metabolism changes becoming more and more less efficient.

The link stated that the majority regain every pound they lost and the next diet they even become more unable to burn calories efficiently. The cycle continues.

Re: Low Sugar - Low Carb … enough

@JeanLouiseFinch-Not only is it the amount of protein he talks about that he is eating, it's the amount of fat he is consuming.  He talks about bringing salami and chese, eating the fried pork rinds, bacon, etc.  I realize that his "journey" has been successful for him and he under a doctor's care, but a lot of fat is not his friend.  I hope he's not substituing fat laden foods for the low sugar and carbs. Just my opinion.

@mike995134- I agree.  I watch David's show to see and hear about products that QVC sells, not to keep hearing about his "journey".  I also found it annoying how many times he talked about buying Little David's bow tie from a pet store.  I think Little David is adorable, but tooooooooo many mentions about buying the bow tie that is a cat collar. Anyone agree?

I did read it, but I don't agree. IMO, when it's a lifestyle commitment, there shouldn't be a need for a "next diet".

The link addressed that even with the best of intentions other factors beside "will power" and lifestyle changes are involved @JeanLouiseFinch . While weight decreases, appetite increases. Explains why I have read at least 80% of restrictive eating plans fail. 2/3 of Americans are either overweight or obese. It certainly is not the fault of someone simply going off their diet. A lot more is going on.

Re: Low Sugar - Low Carb … enough

I think David is in a lose-lose situation. His viewers are constantly asking about his diet, so he feels he has to talk about it. And then there are the people who don't want t hear another word. I never listen to his coffee talk sessions, but I understand he spends a LOT of time on his diet and recipes.

I just wish he would find a better way to handle the food and tasting on his shows. If he chooses not to eat something, he needs to move away from the table and let Rosina or Steve do the tasting. Right now he just hovers over them and it is very uncomfortable to watch.

David is doing what works for HIM. And, many people with weight issues are always looking for the magic bullet or the diet that works for them. I get it. This is the first time in my 70 years that I am relatively happy with my weight and small clothes size. BUT, like many of the others here have stated, it is a constant battle and we are always hopeful we will someday win.

I think it is risky to have so much of your persona tied into your weight loss. Look at what happened to poor Richard Simmons. He became a recluse because he was so afraid of being seen having gained weight. I hope that doesn't happen to David.

I only hope that when the inevitable cookbook comes out, he will include nutritional information. If he is touting it as low carb, he has to include those numbers. Some of the food he eats (like whole wheat pasta, sweet potato fries, and brown rice) may work for him, but they are no where near low carb. I hope he works with a nutritionist to get the right info.
