I agree.  Consumers are either savvy enough to be aware of that, or they don't care for whatever reason. Nobody wants to feel lectured.  I have a lot of respect for David, but I do think that all his talk about his "journey" is a turn-off.

I wish him a long, healthy life, but having been on several of my own "journies" over the years, I would caution that too much publicizing your diet or weight loss plan is not a good idea.  Restrictive diets are rarely followed for long periods of time.

Restrictive or a life choice? I changed my eating habits long ago and am 20 lbs lighter than I was in college. No red meat, no fast food, no fried food. I cut out the junk.

I don't consider it restrictive. Lots of good food choices for me.

Re: Low Sugar - Low Carb … enough

Living the low carb life is very difficult, but it is much easier today than it was before Keto. I have helped control T2 diabetes since 1995 and it was very difficult in the beginning. I have to guess that before I began using a Libre 2 monitoring system that most of my friends and none of my business acquaintances had any idea that I was diabetic.  So David, ENOUGH.

I feel that David may have a greater percentage of male followers than we have here in the Forums.  Assuming that feeling is true, I am quite happy with him continuing to beat the drum he is using to improve his life.  Maybe he will be heard by someone who finally actually accepts the message this time.

I agree with Mr Wilkes that a new low carb/keto cookbook is in the works.  David is very good at what he does...sales.   Drum up chatter and interest about his health journey, write a cookbook to show how he did it and so can you.

Brilliant textbook marketing.

Plus for him it ensures job security and not being layed off with the next budget cuts.  It takes more than a year to write/publish and market the project.

There's also yet another video of David's health journey up on QVC Plus.  It's the 2nd of many such videos to come, I'm sure.

QVC will milk this emaciated cow till it's dry.

[ Edited ]

I've said this before but the bloom is off the ITKWD rose for me. There was a time I never missed a show. Now I forget to even tune in. And when I do I'm not interested in what he's selling on many levels. I've been sick of hearing about his low carb, low sugar diet for a long time. His obsession with mentioning it over and over and over is now rivaling Jane Treacy's references to her darling dancing daughters!!! 😩

Re: Low Sugar - Low Carb … enough

I just think it's because it's what he's focused on in his diet journey.  It can be hard to find foods that fit that category.  I don't consider his mention of low carb/low sugar to be anything more than that, not that it's more healthy.  He's really not touting the health benefits of the foods.  And I really got it Sunday with the pork rinds.  It's really difficult to find low carb crunchy foods on a low carb diet.

I did a moderate low carb diet a couple of years ago.  Certainly nowhere near as restrictive as I'm sure David is on.  But, for me it was still rather restrictive.  One thing I noticed was the everyone doing low carb was looking for that replacement for the carby items they loved.  Bread was a big one.  And I can tell you that no matter how much they talk about how good it is, it is never as good as the real thing.  Also, I learned that just because a food looks like a particular food doesn't mean it tastes like it.

I lost about 20 lb eating that way, but it wasn't worth it to me.  I managed to find another way of eating which is not restrictive at all IMO to maintain my weight.  I don't lose weight; I stay right in a 5 lb range, but I am able to maintain it.

Does it bother me that David mentions it in his presentations?  No, I notice it, but it doesn't bother me. I'm just surprised that he is able to sample so many foods and still maintain that diet.

Just to clarify, low carb and keto are two different things.  Keto is always low carb. But low carb isn't always keto.  Having adopted a keto lifestyle style (and it is a change in lifestyle) close to four years ago, I can tell you David is in no way following a keto plan. I've heard him make recommendations and claims that aren't keto at all.

Re: Low Sugar - Low Carb … enough

I'm sick of the low carb push too. Sorry, cauliflower and cheese are not substitutes for everything. If I want a bagel, I'm going to have the real deal. I am also tired of hearing about everyone's "journey." I think I'm cranky today, or I am on social media too much. lol I'm just floored by all the narcissism and TMI of today's world. Alas, I think I'm officially old.
