Looking for advice about the Instant Pot TSV

I just posted this on the TSV forum, but then thought I probably should have put it here instead. If I can't delete my previous posting, apologies for having it listed twice.

"Although I am seriously considering getting the TSV version of this pot, I'm also looking at the 6-qt pot Kohl's has. It is a 7 in 1 pot as opposed to QVC's 9 in 1 version, but from what I can tell, the two functions I would be missing would be the ability to sterilize (don't need) and ability to make cakes (don't do because of diabetes). So, it seems to me that the Kohl's version, which I could get for about $75 with tax, would be a better option for me. At least, that's what it looks like, which is why I'm on here. Is there some other important or useful feature I would be missing with the Kohl's version that I'm not aware of? Would appreciate advice on this. Thanks."

Hi. From your description of the Kohls model as a 7 in 1, it sounds like a Duo model. If so, then it's a GREAT model and just get that and save some money. That's what I have. Just love it. The Duo makes yogurt and- for me - that feature would be important. I wouldn't want the Lux model for example because it lacks that feature (it also lacks the low pressure option which is handy for some vegetables).  So if it's important to you too, then you should confirm the model. And in that case the Kohls price would be amazing, for the 6 qt Duo.

Basically, just know the features you want and ...BUY. This is a great machine.

@qualityshopper

Here’s a quick comparison.

QVC has the extra sealing ring, oven mitts, rice paddle,

soup spoon and measuring cup.

A few more accessories.

But most of all...QVC has easy pay...always a plus.

Years from now you won’t remember how much you paid for it.

I echo many, many others...a quality machine that gets used a lot.

@qualityshopper  I guess I am a pessimist but something like this if you are not familiar with pressure cookers(witch this is)  I would buy at a store that will allow you to return it past the 30 day mark.  Kohls is great, Bed, bath, beyond and Walmart all will allow you time to really use the pot.  So do you really need those extras. You already have pot holders, spoons, measuring cups.  The steamer thing comes with all of them. The extra gasket is the only thing good to have on hand.

But each to his own.  I have the Copper Chef Power XL and it does everything I need it to do.

Hi I like this Instant Pot you should get this Pot even if you do onot use the Cake or Sterilizer.

You can bake a sugar free  cake or cheescake or a tart with fruit and stevia.

Get a lot of for $79.99 extra gasket cup spoons and little booklet Ithink it is worth it like another review said below. And do not forget the choice of Colors no one has.

Re: Looking for advice about the Instant Pot TSV

The way I look at it is all those settings really aren't that important.  I haven't watched the presentation, so I don't know about the cake or the yogurt, but most of the other pressure cooker settings are just high or low pressure and time.  I would think most recipes for pressure cookers are going to put it that way too.  I picked up a magazine called Instant Pot Recipes, and it didn't use a one of those other settings.  Just gave whether it was High or Low Pressure, how long to cook it for and whether to use quick release or natural release.

I could care less about easy pay.  That's too easy to add up, so if I can't pay for it when the credit card bill comes in, I don't need it.  With Kohls you might also check to see if you have a coupon in the mail or via E-mail to lower the price even more.

Re: Looking for advice about the Instant Pot TSV

I bought the red one. Afraid I wouldn't be able to get it nearer to Xmas we get and at that price. Don't need the easy pay, and won't have to pay for it till 10-10 and they said it wouldn't be back at that price for long time and I didn't want to miss the deal

@qualityshopper  Try this leaves30.  If you're familiar with Kohl's, you'll understand what it means before my post gets zapped.

Re: Looking for advice about the Instant Pot TSV

@qualityshopper  I have the 7 in 1 model that I got from QVC back in March and like it.   However, if you get the TSV you also get these little mits and extra ring.  I bought these separately from Amazon.  The mits are useful for so many things and the ring is definitely a plus.   I would go ahead and get the TSV.

Re: Looking for advice about the Instant Pot TSV

Thanks so much everyone for sharing your thoughts on this. It was a hard decision as to which one to go with, but I finally decided to go with the TSV. Mainly it was the easy pay option that caused me to go that way. And, who knows, even though I said I'd probably never use it to make a cake, I could always change my mind and then I'd have that option. Now to look for recipes. Again, thanks so much!
