Sandra Lee starts with frozen bread dough. This should taste like homemade.

This recipe may take some time but it's well worth it. This is a copycat recipe for Cinnabons my DH makes. YUMMY!!!
Cinnabon Rolls
Dough:
½ c warm water
2 pkgs dry yeast
2 tbls sugar
3 ½ oz pkg instant vanilla pudding
½ c butter-melted
2 eggs
1 tsp salt
6 c flour
Cinnamon-Sugar Mix for Dough
1/2 c butter
2 c brown sugar
4 tsp cinnamon
Cream Cheese Frosting:
8 oz cream cheese
½ c butter
1 tsp vanilla
3 c confectioner’s sugar
1 tbls milk
To make frosting, mix ingredients until smooth.
Cinnabon Rolls Instructions
In a bowl combine water, yeast & sugar. Stir until dissolved. Set aside.
In large bowl, take pudding mix & prepare according to pkg directions.
Add butter, eggs & salt. Mix well. Add yeast mixture. Blend.
Gradually add flour; knead until smooth. Place in greased bowl. Cover & let rise until doubled.
Punch down dough & let rise again.
Then roll out on floured board to 18 x 15 size.
Take 1 c soft butter & spread over surface. In bowl mix 2 c brown sugar & 4 tsp cinnamon. (DH says you don't need a full cup of butter)
Sprinkle over top. Roll up very tightly. With bread knife, put a notch every 2”. Cut into rolls.
Place on lightly greased cookie sheet 2” apart.
Take hand & lightly press down each roll.
Cover & let rise until double again.
Bake at 350° for 15-20 mins. Remove when they start to turn golden brown.
DO NOT OVERBAKE

I have never seen a recipe with instant pudding. It sounds like it would give it that extra something. I have alwys used the hot roll mix but I am thinking of trying the frozen bread dough for Christmas. I like them moist.

I think the added pudding keeps them moist. They are melt in your mouth good. I do good to get DH to make these once per year if I'm lucky. I love them with the cream cheese frosting instead of the powdered sugar icing. The rolls are so huge you really need to cut them half when you eat one. I told DH he needs to make more rolls instead of making them so large.

The Pioneer Woman's are good. The great thing is you can mix the dough in the evening and put in fridge overnight. In the am just roll them out, add the butter, sugar & cinnamon roll up slice and let rise for up to an hour, then bake. They are very light and yummy. I love cinnamon rolls fresh in the morning but they take too long if you start from scratch. Making them this Friday for a group I volunteer with I know they will love them.
