I know, I know, you can't believe I'm posting about the LocknLock pie carrier AGAIN, but I have big news: I discovered that it actually can hold two pies, so I thought that was definitely worth sharing.
To make this work, you must have two pies that do not rise above the rim level of pie dishes that are 2" deep or less, and the dishes must be no more than 11.5" wide to easily get them in and out. I did tests with two standard Pyrex glass dishes, two deep dish Anchor Hocking glass dishes (the ones with the little side handles), and two Fiesta ceramic dishes (the latter are just a smidge over 2" tall but still fit).
But how do you stack the pies, you ask? Just remove the handles from the included insert and place it between the pies. Genius!
I wanted to try this because I was transporting two crumb-crust pies (key lime and chocolate silk) that would have whipped topping added later, and it just seemed like they would be close to fitting in the carrier at the same time even with the lowered inset of the handle. And they did! I was a bit more confident holding the carrier from the bottom rather than using the handle, but it felt like it would have sustained the weight. And it was really nice to just use one container for both pies, especially since I was able to place it in the refrigerator when I arrived at our gathering—and another container could even be placed on top of my carrier.
So if you have this amazing pie carrier, add another use to the list of its benefits: double decker transportation. I'm already planning to try this method again in a week or so when I take a baked dip and a platter of dippers to a holiday party.

@loriqvc That is a clever idea. I often take two pies to outings and put them in separate carriers.
I'll have to see if I can get two in the same carrier. It would make things easier for sure.
Thanks for the tip.

Thanks for the info @loriqvc. I wanted to tell you, too, that my printed pie carrier with the poinsettias on them is the same size as the carrier that was on clearance! Maybe it was new this year. 23.5 cups. I think maybe a prior one was smaller. I may try double stacking a dip or something for Christmas eve. Thank you!

@Carmie - I typically end up needing two pies as well and always use two carriers; it was very exciting when this experiment was a success! ![]()

@lynnie61 - I'm glad the printed version was nice and big for you—good luck with your holiday treat transportation! ![]()

@loriqvc It didn't come with the lifter though, but I can use the one from my solid color carrier. Thanks for always good LnL and temptations tips and heads up. I got the garden hot dog platter today. It was under $12 and free shipping. It's very nice and substantial.
Do they still do price adjustments on sale items? The platter is down to 7.49!

@lynnie61 - I'm actually pretty shocked at some of the TT sale prices right now; I got what I thought were two fantastic deals over the weekend on a Carved Willow 5-qt bowl and two 1-qt lidded bakers, and the prices dropped even more last night! There are a ton of nice items under $15. (And then there are a bunch of items that aren't on sale at all, even though they've been around for awhile. *shrug*)
ETA: I did submit a price adjustment request this morning on those two purchases since they are listed at a "sale price," which does seem to be honored for adjustments. As for the lifter piece from the carrier, you could also probably use a flat plate/platter or even a piece of sturdy cardboard and get the same effect.

I know they don't adjust on LTS, clearance or final sale, but wondering if they do on just "sale items". Can't hurt to ask.

@lynnie61 - Definitely worth asking, especially via the Social Team; my request was just approved, so I'm getting a bit over $12 back—making my total purchase price for a huge bowl and two lovely lidded bakers only about $20!

@loriqvc They processed both my adjustments. Near $10 for two items that had free shipping too. One temptation piece and a Berkshire wearable throw for a January birthday. Yay!
