Re: Lock n Lock suggestions - Freezing Sauce - need large size!

@qvc chick go to Shop/kitchen/ then L&L and search glass there are larger sizes. I do not see tritan listed. I have just started using Tritan and love it for many items, but I have not seen many large sizes. I have a lot of L&L glass items. When I first purchased I doubted the claims of freezing,baking & microwaving without breakage--but have not had any problems so far. I mainly use the individual serving items. I do have the larger bakeware and love it.

I freeze in plastic vacuum sealer bags, I put them on cookie sheets to freeze them so that they stack and store easily. They are available in rolls so that you can make them the size you need, they also defrost more quickly for me but it sounds like you freeze very large quantities.

I also use those, or freezer strength Ziploc bags, and freeze them flat.    Ground beef or turkey also thaw much more quickly when frozen flat, not in loaf-shaped hunks.

Sauces like tomato, etc, tend to discolor and stain even the best plastic, so I don't ever use those anymore.

@LizzieInSRQ   Thanks.

We have an RV.  The freezer space is really small.  I needed a way to get lots of food in there when we travel.

Anything round or an odd shape takes up too much room.  Flat containers all the same size fit together tight.

I've been doing this for years.  I even freeze pumpkin purée and applesauce this way.

I don't see any larger Tritan containers on QVC.  I looked.

And I want to freeze meatballs too, so would need large size.

Those Glad containers are way too small

Couldnt locate any big Tritan ones on Amazon either

Hello - I want to do big batch of tomato sauce and meatballs for the Freezer.    I know I should use Tritan or Glass, as it may stain regular LL.

What do you guys use??  I am looking  for maybe 10-12 cup size, or larger, but I can not locate anything that big!!  In Tritan or Glass Only.

Help!

@qvc chick   I got so tired of trying to keep L&L clean that I donated them or tossed the really red/dirty ones. I replaced them with Rubbermaid's glass containers with a plastic vented lid. The vent flips up for microwave use, they seal tightly to go in the freezer  and if I want to use the glass containers in the oven, I just use foil as a lid. I purchased the large set (stacks in cabinet) from Amazon.

@Carmie   What a great space saving idea. I just put the freezer ziplocks on my grocery list. Thanks....
