Lock n Lock Question about Tabs Breaking

I've had issues with a tab breaking on some of my smaller containers, but last weekend one of the tabs broke on the big round container I use for grapes.

DH says if the seal is broken it's not worth anything. It's no longer airtight. Can it be airtight with 3 tabs working?

So if a tab breaks on one of yours do you keep using it, keep just the bottom and use it for something else, or throw the whole thing out? TIA! Smiley Happy

Re: Lock n Lock Question about Tabs Breaking

Yes, It seems that it would be very frustrating for the tabs to break off. I've had all Lock & Lock containers for at least 20 years now. Its all I use. Nothing else. I have yet to have a tab break off of any of my containers! None. I am always amazed when I read that this is a common problem. I am not careful with mine, I just use them like any other household item. I just can't figure out why everyone has tab problems and I never have. Woman Indifferent

I would contact Customer Service.  I have been using Lock N Lock for many years with no problems.  Please let us know if you contact them what their response is.

@beach-mom   Do you put your lock n locks in the dishwasher?   I wonder if that is the problem.  I always handwash mine and have not lost any tabs.  The heat in the dishwasher can really damage intricate pieces.

I have not had a tab break off but I did once buy a set and gave as a present and she said one of the tabs broke off that set.

Never had that problem.Last year I gave several sets to my son's future mil & she loves them. She does a lot of cooking & uses them everyday.

Re: Lock n Lock Question about Tabs Breaking

I had a tab break off on one bowl lid. It was a bummer but I still use it for storing oatmeal in the fridge. I haven't contacted CS because I don't have the order number and got these a few years ago (a set of round bowls, which I love and use all the time, never put in dishwasher or freezer or even the microwave)

should I still try to contact them?

Re: Lock n Lock Question about Tabs Breaking

I have had one set where the tabs broke off one container in the set.

I have also had a set where the top/silicone seal does not sit properly on top of the container anymore, and I cannot secure all of the tabs down.  I'm dealing with that issue now.  It's a rectangle glass container with a handle on the lid, so it was much loved.  Now the handle is useless because I will not secure only two of the four tabs, just to one time have the lid fall off while I'm transporting it with food inside.

Re: Lock n Lock Question about Tabs Breaking

i have had three lids replaced by calling lock and lock directly.

no charge for the lid or for shipping. they usually arrive in less than three weeks.

all they need is you name, address, color, and code number on the bottom of the bowl or item.

excellent customer service.

i have a ton of lock and lock. mine broke off by the container falling on the floor.
