Lock & Lock question

I have the salad keeper. It has a handle and it also has the locking tabs. My hubby was trying to open it. Not sure if he broke one or if it just gave in. I had refrigerated the left over salad. It was late so we just popped the whole thing in the fridge.

After he opened it I noticed one of the tabs was broken. I was upset. I am not looking to lay blame, just to figure out

1. can I get a new top

2. did puting it in the fridge cause the problem

3. perish the thought -- did my hubby destroy my prize possession{#emotions_dlg.confused1}
