When I bought my 5 quart CrockPot years ago, I was suprised to find this Little Dipper pot inside the box, as well. It's only 2 cup capacity. Over the years I've used it occasionally to keep gravy warm.
Does anyone here own one? I'm warming my granddaughter's oatmeal in it and I'm wondering if it would cook oatmeal.
@house_cat : I haven't tried oatmeal. I use mine for gravy and hot dips.I've used it to keep fruit like cherries warm to serve over ice cream and for chocolate syrup.
I found the manual online. It seems to suggest that it is only for keeping things warm, but I also found several recipes for it online, including oatmeal.
I wouldn't trust it on overnight, but I might give it a try when I'm home one day and see what happens.
@house_cat. Actually there is a "cold method" of preparing oatmeal that I've used in the past where you soak it overnight in the fridge in milk and serve it cold. I used to just love it in the summer with fruit
I don't remember the proportions but I'm sure they're online. somewhere
I have a 1 quart Crockette that I got in 1998 & it's still in the box. I went to visit a cousin in SoCal & she was using one to keep chip dip warm at a family get-together & I asked her about it, because I'd never seen such a small crockpot. She told me the one she was using belonged to her sister & she'd borrowed it because hers had broken & she couldn't find another one locally. When I returned back to WA, I was shopping at the new Walmart that had recently opened nearby & they had these on the shelves for $9.99 each, so I bought one for her & mailed it to her so she could return her sister's to her. I bought one for myself, because it was one of those "seems like a good idea at the time" things. I should pull it out & see if it even works after 25 years in the box!
