Is there one? I used to laugh when lifting mine in and out of the oven. I thought it would give me muscles, lol. Not so funny anymore. Anyway, I'd use it more if it wasn't so dern heavy.

Re: Light-weight le creuset?

Am guessing no.  I am thinking of donating my covered casserole before it kills me.  I know there are women who collect this line of cookware and have dozens of pieces.  They must have the physiques of bodybuilders.

Re: Light-weight le creuset?

I love Le Creuset.  Fortunately by the time I felt I could afford it, I was also aware I couldn't easily lift it, so I just enjoy looking!

Same with cast iron pans.  All too heavy for me now.

Re: Light-weight le creuset?

I have never used my dutch oven in the oven - bc i dont want accidents

if a recipe calls for - first stove top cooking and finish off in the oven

i continue to simmer on stovetop and give it stir every so often

it may not be exactly the same - but i dont want to chance it

Hot liquidy stuff - is just not for me

i'm okay lifting a roast out of oven - maybe it is the sloshing liquid

maybe it is bc i cant see - bc of the closed lid - idk

i do love cooking in cast iron

I mean, cast iron is just heavy.

Re: Light-weight le creuset?

I have thrown in the towel on any brand of iron cookware.  Things come out way too done with my level of attention, I guess.  I've switched completely to a slow cooker for these recipes.

Re: Light-weight le creuset?

I forgot to add, my heaviest weighs 18 pounds.  Not a Le Creuset.
