We HAVE had a sighting in California, so I'm reviving this thread!  

I'd love to know when the cherries start showing up in your area stores!

Would you share the variety (Rainier or Bing?), the general area where you saw them and maybe even the price per pound? 

I don't want to miss even a day of cherry season!

I think around here - late May or early June.

We have a local Green Market from May until October ... looking forward to it!

Too early for North American cherries. Late May or June is when they show up in NYC supermarkets, mostly from Washington state. 

I saw cherries in the produce section this winter at insane costs per pound, but they were imports from South America (Chile, I think) and they were very small size. I did not buy them.

Cherry trees in the US are first blossoming about now. When the flowers are pollinated by bees, the fruit will result. Give Nature a chance!

Cherries?? Now?? We don't get cherries from our many orchards here in upper Michigan until mid July or so. Delicious? Yes! But we've got quite a wait.

I can't wait for the cherries to come back!! I love cherries. I love them so much that during their off-season I buy these frozen cherries from Walmart. They are delicious in my yogurt with a little stevia...yummy! So if you have to satisfy your cherry cravings right now, before the fresh ones arrive, try these.

It's way too early for sweet cherries.  Try again in mid-Summer.

We start getting them here sometime in mid to late May.  I know because we always take them on vacation with us.  So now days, you never know when something like that will pop up!  I'm glad we are all ready and on the lookout!

They sell them on the sides of the roads here.  Seems like that is about June maybe.
