Lemon cake

We went to a brunch yesterday and they served an awesome lemon layer cake. I would love to have a recipe for something like this. It does not have to be a layer cake. Just something very "lemony" and good. Besides the frosting there was something else between the layers. I'm not sure if it was lemon curd or just a filling. Does anyone have a recipe that they love and would not mind sharing? TIA!
