LOL, hey I have one of those bags, I kept my last purse for over 15 years.

Not True! If you are making Beef Bourguignon you would not make it in a Rachael Ray. You may want to try it in a Le Creuset. If you are making a canned Campbell soup then any cheap pot will do.

It might mean that the paint job has slight imperfections or the lid may not fit as well as le creuset would like. Still a quality piece but doesn't meet the strict standards to be sold as first quality. I think these are a good investment piece because if you take care of them they will last you forever. What I have read is the cheaper brands enamel will chip easier than le creuset or staub. I have a staub and I like it and use it a lot. It is also made in France but has a dark interior as opposed to le creuset white, and is slightly less expensive. I don't know anything about the rachael ray but I think tramontina tested well as a cheaper option.I don't own any pieces- just wondering about the quality at TJ Maxx and other discounted places. I have seen their iconic orange color on the shelves. Since it doesn't go out of style, why is it discounted at TJ Maxx. I could understand if it was last year's color or style. Pls enlightened me. I have seen their bakeware marked made in China.

I have one Le Creuset pot. I am getting older and have a medical condition that precludes me from lifting my pot. It is very very heavy cookware! It is a fabulous pot! Goes into the oven and everything. I also have a smaller RR pot. I like the Le Creuset better. It is better made and heavier. RR is still a decent pot! I am giving both to my son in law. Time for the next gen to reap the benefits of good cookware!!!!

Try the lids on the seconds. Make sure they fit and don't rock. Sometimes you'll have to try several lids on several pots to find a fit, but you want them to sit tight! That is a common reason a pot will be a second. Also, being a slightly off color is VERY common. You see some that are supposed to have the ombre dark to light and don't, etc. Make sure the lid sits flat, the pot sits flat, no big chips on the edges, and you should be good to go if you like the color! I have a few seconds, and I can't tell them from the others now.

That is so nice of you! You all are blessed to have that closeness in your family! Now he has to cook for you too! LOL!!! Be sure to show him how to use it or he may over heat it the first time he cooks! I had to learn the hard way and LC replaced a pot for me about 25 years ago.
Maybe get him a copy of the LC book How to Cook in Cast Iron. Amazon has them cheap in good used ones and they really are good to get you started off right. They have a lot of information about how to cook and care for the pieces, and some basic recipes.

I have an 8 qt Le Creuset pot I have had for over 20 years (it was a Christmas gift). The only down side I have it that it is white and had discolored at little inside. It is wonderful pot.
