To put use an analogy that the OP might understand, why spend $650 for a fold bracelet when you van get a chap knock off for $50? They both look the same on our wrist.

yeah, but, when I go out to a nice place and want to impress somebody with a flashy gold bracelet I know it's real, can't hang a stock pot around my wrist. ROFL

Status, is all it really is.

Most people would be tickled to death with a Rachel pan. Depends on the people you hang with I guess.

Yes, your argument about you knowing the gold bracelet is real, is all about status. Your post is actually really ironic if you read it with open eyes.

don't want to start a flame, which, most do, but, yeah your probably right I'd rather show off on rare occasion with gold LOL

It's a matter of preference.

I'd much rather have beautiful, sturdy cookware than a piece of jewelry. Smile

I think we all have categories where we want "the best" and others where we'll settle for something inexpensive - or have no interest at all.

Very true!

I once had a Le Creuset casserole dish that I had to donate to Goodwill. It was way too heavy for me and I did not enjoy using it. Also found the cleanup was difficult.

I always have a twinge of guilt when I see the words "Le Creuset". Back as a teen when I lived in San Francisco, I had limited kitchen stuff, so whenever I needed a big pot, I'd knock on my landlady's door to borrow her big, heavy orange one w/ the French name. After that went on for ages, she'd be grumpy as she handed it to me. I had NO idea that it was such an expensive item that she was letting some silly teenager use constantly.

I have enough other stuff to make me feel guilty as I get old, but it still bothers me!

DH gave me a set of Le Creuset as a wedding present. I still use it - one piece almost every day. Mine is made in France. Now some of it is made in China. If QVC is selling a piece for $650, that piece is probably imported from France.

I also use an oval pan I bought at Target about 20 years ago. I can't remember the brand, but it has a tempered glass lid.

I use both and love both. I think it really doesn't matter. Some women want cookware that has stood the test of time, like Le Creuset and Emile Henry. Some don't. You should enjoy cooking in whatever makes you happy! Smile

Real Sharks R much smarter than U appear to be in your comments. As if gold isn't status. Go away little girl. Grow up and learn. No one cares what's hanging on your wrist or what cookware I'm using. Just U. Grow up!

I always wanted something LeCrueset. I found a 2qt covered Blue casserol for $39.00 at Marshall's. I love it, I think anything cooked in Cast Iron tastes better!!?? And it cleans great. If you have a Marshalls or TJMax check there. I looked over the pot found nothing wrong with it.
