Re: Le Creuset - What's the Draw?

Years ago I used to go to the big trash pickups and resell on CL.

Someone threw out a LC dutch oven and at the time I had no idea what it was but I looked it up and posted it.

Boy was it ever popular! lol

I made money for sure. Of course I kind of wished I had kept it because I do like to cook.

If you don't know how to cook on/in LC, you probably won't like it.  If you use it properly it is the easiest thing ever to clean up.

I  got them from my mother what seems like long ago.  I don't like them.. but if I am ever attacked or my home is invaded they make great weapons. One smack and the culprit will be down and out.

Re: Le Creuset - What's the Draw?

I use my Le Creuset casserole pan every day.  From simple eggs, to steaks or fried chicken.  It still looks brand new.  I use the Dutch oven for weekly no knead bread, or my occasional lamb stew.

The TSV was not of any interest to me because of the long handle.  Too awkward to store away.

Re: Le Creuset - What's the Draw?

I can't believe there are people who didn't like their Le Creuset.

I love mine and replaced all of my stainless steel pans (except 1 to boil pasta) with Le Creuset.  I am not a gourmet cook by any means,  simple things like  Tacos are made in my Le Creuset.  You don't need to be cooking for hours to get the benefit of these great pans.  The clean up is sooooo easy.  If something is sticking you are likely using too high of a heat.

IMO they are worth the cost.  So much easier to clean up and use than Stainless Steel, no crappy chemicals like most non-stick pans, and no coating which comes off over time.

I would never purchase the Le Creuset Stoneware as that's not made in France but Thailand or China.

@Caaareful Shopper

I agree with you.

Have no use or patience--much less storage space--for a long-handled pot such as the TSV.

Also, those handles would get powerfully hot, and I noticed that the LC rep had his demo pot handles covered with a silicone heat protector.

LC offers much more practical designs for a typical kitchen and cook.

Interesting that a "new color", Cool Mint, was being offered.  I bought two beautiful, very similar "mint colored"  LC pots at one of the company's outlet stores about two or three years ago.

Mine seem to be a slightly lighter and more gradient shade than the ones shown yesterday on QVC. I was told that the ones I bought were the only two they had in stock in their store  at the time. It is not a color featured on LC's own website now, either.
