Only in my opinion is that these pots are beautiful and extremely heavy. Don't personally know if the inside or outside comes totally clean. I have wanted to purchase one but always change my mind. What ever stainless steel pots, you have that are not cooking right must not be of good quality, you need 18/10.
Mine are 25 years old spotless and brilliant in shine. The fry well, roast, broast and bake well also. Clean up is in the dishwasher, no special cleaners.

I second all those who suggest at least a 5 Qt., and I would suggest larger if you can handle the weight. Also, buy one with a ceramic lid so it can go in a higher heat oven. I could never afford a LC, so I bought the Lodge ceramic coated cast iron. Yes, it's made in China, and I would prefer to buy from somewhere else. But, there it is. Lodge now has a USA line made in the US. Still expensive. Staub also has non-China made.
And, as advised, watch your stove top heat. No need to go higher than medium.

@NYCMOM wrote:Hello Everyone,
I am in the shopping for my first Pot - finially decided I need to do this. My stainless steel ones are not cutting it anymore. I need an all-around pot with good heat distrubution for making stews, soups, meats, maybe a bread loaf. I would like to leave it out as I have no cabinet space. Any suggestions we are a family of 4. And does anyone know if there will be a TSV for Le Creuset soon?
Thank you All !
This is my favorite Le Creuset and I have many. It is useful as a skillet, also goes in the Oster French Door countertop oven. Doesn't look like it would fit but it does.
Some prefer the enamel lids and I have sets of those but I love this "cook and look" lid, not as heavy either.

If you have a glass top stove make sure it is safe to use cast iron on top of it.
My brand new range came with instructions not to use cast iron on top of the burner. I did use cast iron with other glass tops, but the newer ones will get too hot and break or explode.
Now, I just use them in the oven.
PS, they also scratch glass tops. You have to be extra careful.

If you have a Sam's Club account they have a Tramontina 7 quart Enamaled Cast Iron Round Dutch Oven for $53.98. Four or five colors. Has the braising self-basting ridges in the lid and a metal knob.
They also have a Tramontina 14 piece tri-ply 10/10 Stainless Steel set of cookware set $249.98 ( shipping only, no store pick up).

I had read somewhere that if these piece are not stated "Made in France" and instead say "Imported" then they are from China. Why is it that some say Imported and some say Madein France?

If you have any hand issues they are heavy . I would love to have but I had to return because washing the pot killed my hands.
