Late to the Instant Pot Party!

Hello!  I know I’m late to the party but I was able to score an Instant Pot Lux 6Qt for $40 today at our local grocery.  I’ve read through the recipe book and can’t wait to try some but would like to know what the Instant Pot afficianados love to do with this item.  Sorry if you have to repost - just redirect me to other threads.  Many thanks in advance!

Better late than never @MJDinVegas...Welcome to the party.  There are some posts on this forum that talk about the Instant Pot..@mtc shared this link on another forum: https://www.tablespoon.com/meals/dinner/instant-pot-recipes-that-seem-too-good-to-be-true?

If you have Facebook there is an Instant Pot forum/group where a lot of recipes and tips are shared.  Also check out youtube as there are a lot of videos on how to use the pot...Enjoy!

Re: Late to the Instant Pot Party!

Instant pot also has a website with a lot of recipes listed so look at the booklet for recipes and check on their web site, and also Google search Instant Pot Recipes and so many ideas and recipes will display.

You will love using it and Amazon.com has Instant Pot Recipe and cookbooks for sale too like 1001 instant pot recipes I believe is what a relative purchased from Amazon a little while ago when I gifted a 6 quart lux instant pot to them.

youtube also has many instant pot recipes so check them out too..

Don't believe that whole 3lb chicken done in 20 minutes. It's raw. I over cooked mine the first tiime at 45 minutes and it was tough as shoe leather, so, I did as instructed at the 20. Nope, not for me juices ran red and the meat thermometer read 150, so, back it went for another 10 minutes and then it was perfect.   So, for a small bird just big enough to make chicken salad, my ideal will be 30 minutes. In my other pressure cookers I'd cook for 60, so, it halves the time.

I made northern beans in mine yesterday instead of soaking overnite and cooking for hr and a half next day I put in cup of beans, 6 cups of water,  chunk ham, little salt, tblspoon of olive oil to keep the pot from foaming as beans will do, and put on 'bean/chili' option and set timer for 30 minutes.  After done, as seasoning, I put in bacon grease like 1/4 cup and they were perfect.

So, now, I don't have to anticipate what I may want for dinner a day or 2 ahead I can make it happen in quick time.

p.s. if 6 cups of water is not to your liking you want more broth add 8 cups of water. All a learning curve and depends on how you like to eat your beans, dunking bread in it, etc.
