Has anyone beside me noticed a big change in the flavor of lamb the past few years? I love it and have ordered it several times in restaurants only to be very disappointed. It has no flavor, and might as well be veal or beef. I have taken my herding dogs to a ranch in my area several times and was discussing this with the owner. She raises Dorpher Sheep which are grown specifically for meat. They don't have fleece and are never shorn. It seems these sheep are being grown because the do not taste like mutton or lamb, which is a flavor a lot of people don't like. I guess if you want to be assured of getting good old-fashioned lamb, you'll have to buy the New Zealand product. If you don't like lamb, you might try what's now available at the market, although I don't know why you'd pay lamb prices for something that tastes like beef.
