Have been looking at the 3.5 qt. mini mixer and was wondering what the difference is between the regular and the artisan one.  are they different or is it just the price?

Giving this a selfish bump as I'd like info on the mini, too.

Considering it for a shower gift. The bride had a stand mixer from WM on her list. I don't know if a substitute is the right thing to do.

@sallyann38 & @Snowpuppy

The mini weighs less and has a smaller footprint.  I love mine.

I emailed kitchaid about the difference’s between the reg. And the artisan mixer.

The artisan has a bowl with a handle and different colors.  Sometimes some models have different accessories and prices.

@Snowpuppy  I would not substitute the mini for the stand mixer she has on her list.  There are big differences among the models, and I'd either get exactly what she wants or give her a gift card for one.

Sooner, I was thinking of getting her what she requested.  They're just starting out and neither has been on their own before so I don't know their kitchen skills.
