Hi everyone. I was looking at the Insider magazine and see that a Kitchenaid food processor is the TSV on July 9 ($139.98 price; 9-cup bowl). I need a food processor, but don't know if this is a good one. Do any of you have the Kitchenaid processor? If so, what do you like about it and what do you dislike?
I am on a low-carb diet and almond flour is used in many recipes. I want to make my own because it's about $12/lb. here. Would this processor be able to handle that, do you think?
Any and all advice you can offer is GREATLY appreciated! ![]()

Yes it will be fine for almond flour. I made chick pea flour in my KA food processor. It was like grinding stones.

Thank you so much, VaBelle35. I have a 30% coupon from K o h l s and am thinking of ordering it there -- it seems to come with another bowl (3 cup) and maybe another blade (not sure-- have to look again.)
Years ago, I tried to "chop" whole almonds in my food processor -- I gave up as it was SO loud and I was afraid of ruining the processor! LOL! I decided then to only use pre-sliced almonds for that recipe....

I have a Kitchen Aid I bought in 2004 and it has worked fine until I started making pizza dough in it. It is 625 watts and not strong enough for dough. I have researched a cuisinart that is 14 cup, 3 bowls, 1000 watts and has a separate speed for dough.
I use my vitamix to grind nuts. I suggest you check wattage. It might work well while new but-------. I will add my KA came with 2 bowls and I have neber used the small one.

Just an FYI:
The KA TSV for July 9 is the same one that was a TSV back in early January for $129.96, with reduced shipping of $6.97. The upcoming TSV in July will be $139.98, also with reduced shipping. $10 more as a TSV in July.
It is NOT the same configuration offered by Kohl's. The QVC TSV has the extra workbowl AND the French fry disc. Kohl's doesn't come with the French Fry disc (which DOES come in handy for things other than potatoes). The added French fry disc on this model was a KA promo for QVC, Costco, Sam's & BJ's.
If you want to purchase the blade separately, it lists for $30. QVC has more colors available than Kohl's. With the 30%, the Kohl's one will run you $133 with free shipping. (Depending on when you buy, you will also get $20 additional to spend at Kohl's later), bringing it down to $113. If you still want to purchase the French Fry blade, that will bring it back up to $143, a little less than QVC, but no real color choice.
Last November, I bought two of these in silver from Costco for $99 each. Not much color choice there - contour silver or white, but those colors were requested by two bodies on my list. I also wanted cinnamon and cobalt, so ordered those from Q.
If you happened to have had a waitlist order for cinnamon or cobalt cancelled from the January TSV, call C/S. They will make an adjustment on the upcoming TSV for you at the January price.
Personally, I don't use my KA food processors or even the grain attachment for my KA mixer to make nut (or ANY other) flours. I use my Vita Mix dry blade and jar. Making flours on the KAs puts far too much strain on the motor.
I own several KA food processors - 3, 7, 9 cup TSV, and a 13 cup. I used to use the 7 cup most of the time until getting the 9 cup. Now, the 9 cup is my 'go-to' (mainly because of the wide feed tube), unless I'm making dough, grinding a lot of meat, shredding lots of cheese or making a lot of French fries. Then I prefer the 13 cup.

Thank you all for your good advice and taking time to respond -- especially in such detail! I will tell you that I would never buy a Vitamix -- cannot justify the price for no more than I use a food processor or blender. I moved two years ago and gave away my processor then -- haven't needed it since! I think if I buy sliced almonds, this one will be fine. After all, how much flour can one person use??
I usually buy organic almond butter from Earth Fare and have found organic peanut butter with no added ingredients at most groceries.
Thanks again -- I cannot tell you how much I appreciate all the thought and time from you! Have a wonderful day!
