I bought a Kitchenaid Professional 600 6 quart mixer when it was the TSV in November of 2008. It was a pricey purchase, but we make bread weekly, and I thought this would help us to make bigger batches than my smaller 5 qt machine (Kitchenaid, over 20 years old, still working!!!)

Well, all was ok - until last month when it fell apart inside. We make bread about once a week (sometimes not that often). 6 cups of flour, water andyeast

I get that the machine is 4 years old. But QVC and Kitchenaid market these things asinvincible workhorses. Now that I'm reading reviews of this machine at other places on the internet, it seems that this machine was problematic even before QVC sold it.

QVC said call Kitchenaid. Well, duh, it's out of warranty (only 1 year warranty). Kitchenaid says ship it back to factory in OH, they'll provide the label and box for $52 - and the repair could range anywhere from $60 - 185. Not sure what I will decide to do at this point - may as well buy a new machine if it's on the upper end, but won't know that for sure until it gets shipped back and they look at it! Kitchenaid DID offer to sell me a refurbished Artisan mixer for $250 before they transferred me to the repair people.......

So QVC, was the TSV a way of Kitchenaid getting rid of their defective machines? I guess I should count myself fortunate that mine took much longer to fail than many others out there. And will really think twice before buying a Kitchen or household TSV again.
