Does anyone wonder why QVC has stopped carrying a lot of the kitchen basics? I'm talking things like cutting boards knives? Now I love my glass locknlocks but even better now it's becoming difficult to get my hands on. I have resorted to checking the Internet to see if I can find the sizes that I am looking for. Anybody else having this problem?

Not enough of a profit margin on these items. I'm trying to find a spatula that will actually turn over an egg. For some reason the ones I have just aren't getting under enough for a clean flip. It frustrates me. I bought like 6 different ones and none do it. Anyone have a suggestion I'd appreciate it. As for your issue did you try Williams Sonoma or Sur Le Table? Good luck.

I think people keep forgetting that things have changed in the world. Product availability is not what it once was. And retailers are looking to sell what's available to them, and what they think will sell.

The emphasis now seems to be on selling snack and prepared food....tons of it.

They still sell a lot of knives; since I have a wonderful set (plus a bunch of nice specialty ones), that's part of the kitchen shows I tune out of, and it happens frequently. It seems like every new chef they bring in to sell products has a knife or set to hawk.

And I feel like there has actually been a shift to offering more kitchen basics in the past year—there have been scoops and spatulas and spurtles and storage items galore, along with new serving pieces and the standard flatware, utensil, and mixing bowl sets.

@godi  Have you tried this one? Oxo SS Flexible Turner. It is very thin.

Re: Kitchen basics

No, I am finding what I need for less money than what QVC charges.  I just bought a knife set that I had my eye on...found them much cheaper somewhere else.  QVC's price is $259.00 and I paid $139.00.  They were $149.00 to have them shipped, but bought them in person for $10 less.

People are shopping smarter now.

Try Zulily for Lock and Lock.  They offer different items than QVC sells.  You have to check often because the inventory changes every day.

@godi   The spatula that @froggy pictured for you is a very good, flexible one.  I don't remember where I purchased it last year but it really is thin and super flexible.

Maybe at Belk or Beall's or Boscov's.  I remember throwing it into my online cart to bring my total up to qualify for free shipping.

I know it wasn't Amazon, but that is always worth a try.  Just be sure it is with a reliable Amazon seller . . .

Good luck with your search.
